The Science of Sleep: Why Your Body Clock Matters

🌞 Morning lark or 🌙 night owl? Your body's natural rhythm, or chronotype, affects when you're most focused and productive. Fighting it can leave you drained, but working with it can boost your energy and efficiency.
Tip: Match your hardest tasks to your natural energy peaks, and use your low-energy times for simpler activities. Work with your body, not against it.

It's tricky in a world built and designed by morning people!

Since I was a teen, I always told people that I'm just not a morning person. I always got "you just need to go to bed earlier, " which I knew was easy for them to say because they were morning people-- period 😒. This very much vindicates me. I'm not lazy, but the way society runs on a 9 to 5 routine, I'll always look like it. And I'll always be tired and chasing quality sleep.

My entire life, my doctor said it wasn't a thing that I could be more active at night and it defies science. And now I'm finding out my doctor was wrong all my life and I was misinformed.

Wow, I feel like I’ve been given permission to work when I feel best not when it’s expected. Thank you.

I’m a morning person 🙋🏻‍♀️ I naturally wake up early and can’t really do anything that needs concentration and focus at night, I get so much slower and tuned out.

Many of my family members have been quiet early birds. I'm talking waking up at 5am and starting their day, not with something intense like the reductive stereotype of going for a run or completing 6 projects, but just getting up and doing calm activities and going to work. I think I'm also like that since my brain power slows down by about 3:30pm and I want to sleep by 9pm, and my best days are when I sleep early and wake up by 6:30am. It's hard to fit that into modern adult lifestyle though! Events run late and companies expect you to work until 5pm, 6pm, even later.

My family has known this for centuries. We are all night owls. I hate when I see people talking about discipline. Accusing others of laziness. Thank God for this woman spreading out the truth!

I love your videos, and they're so helpful. However, this video is mind-blowing. Thank you!

Now it all makes sense: marathon running: start time @ 5am, 6am, and get the starting line at 3 am.

The problem with being a night owl is that most of the world functions in the day.

Our circadian rhythm is what usually what manages our biological energy. Some people are morning people and go to sleep early and some people are night owls and are most productive later in the day.

Well, it's too bad there really is no job in my field for my chronotype :/ I need to be an early bird even though I'm a night owl 😢
