Hello, my name is Ali (name Sign index finger on chin). Persian name sign (name sign: V on the neck to look). I want to share my Persian culture with you.
I don’t sign or write Farsi but I'm learning some from my family and friends who are from Iran.
Iran’s New Year is called Nowruz. It usually starts on the first day of spring in the month of March 20-22. Nowruz is like a new day for all Persians. We celebrate the new year for 13 days. We set a special table called Half-sin. On the table, there are different objects that start with “S” letter in Farsi like Sabzeh meaning wheatgrass in a dish, Samanu meaning a sweet pudding made from wheat germs, Senjed meaning a sweet dry fruit of lotus tree, Serkeh a Persian vinegar, Seer meaning garlic, Somaq meaning sumac. You can also put a mirror, eggs, candles, and coins are on the table. After 13 days, we go to the park to get together and celebrate. We have a feast and dance.
I hope you enjoy learning something new about my Persian culture!
