Passionate art collectors attend private events at local museums/galleries. To get access to those exclusive events, sign up for premium memberships with your local museums/galleries.

Membership fees can range between $50-$3, 000 (or even more), depending on the museum and their perks. But you’ll receive invitations to these exclusive events, where you’ll be able to first hand meet collectors, staff, curators and other artists. From there you can enjoy networking and having great conversations.

So I’ve been at the supermarket shouting “art “ every few seconds with limited success, I did then move onto phone coverage….

I always talk about art and being a artist when I can, some leads to sales but can’t imagine it becoming more often and understanding how to sell enough to make it full time but while I can’t figure out a game plan, I let others know I’m an artist and hold onto hope 🥰

You two are fantastic folks, and I want to thank you for all the encouragement you've heaped on your Rogues! I'm not sure I'd have put my work out into public without it, and your humor and humility when things got stanky made me know I wasn't alone in those feelings when the crapturd hit the cooling device.
I just accidently got a commission for a 25 foot table runner made from and depicting anything I like, because a friend threw a dinner party, and a guest (wealthy business owner) saw a 10 inch painting I did of a dancing kraken. :) Lots of things are People, not just Soylent Green! :D

Klee, you have leveled up the peanut gallery!!!
I laughed out loud several times during this video.
Collectors... They are everywhere. But they are not in your studio or art storage closet. Get it out there!

Also... I'm nearly always surprised by the type of people who buy my art! So all that stuff about your "ideal customer avatar"? You won't get it right until... Well, I don't know if you'll ever get it right. So quit sweating over those webinars, quizzes and tutorials that are supposed to help you find them.
Just get your art in front of people eyes.

🤣🤣🤣I love Klee’s attitude: maybe a couple of them (collectors) would pop out of the hole. A bit confused and hungry 😂😂

Okay, Im sorry....
Great video, very educational, and Im inspired Thank you soooo much.

But Klee, you HAVE GOT TO .... HIT THE ROAD WITH A COMEDY ACT, OR SOMETHING ..cuz you got me totally rolling on the floor holding my stomach!😂😂😂🤣🤣

Thank you guys.
Excellent info Rafi. I get the feeling that we should NEVER underestimate that ANYONE could be a potential buyer/collector. Now I just have to get over my fear of looking like a pushy car salesman.
Thank you BOTH.
This was a highly excellent video,
and didnt feel anything like a rant Rafi.
BONUS! 👍😃

Agree just letting people know that you're an artist is a great way to find buyers because if they or someone they know wants a piece of artwork for their home chances are they will think of you or recommend you. I just this weekend received a text from a friend that recently moved to Colorado and wants me to create some artwork for their new home.

YES. I agree. Wherever there are people is the place to be.  (And, bring Klee! She breaks the ice! LOL!)

Check out your local art guilds. Find the ones that have opportunities for their members to show your art. My local guild has the following:
1) For a minimum yearly fee, you can showcase your art on their website or have a link to your website from the guild's website.
2) Designated times where all members show and sell their work either at outdoor shows, festivals and in local restaurants and/or town offices.
3). Participate in "Calls for Artists" at local museums or cultural center events.
4). Join one guild and give it a go for a year. There will be a yearly membership dues and you may have to volunteer to help wherever there is a need and which may not involve a huge commitment. There will also be monthly membership meetings where you can find out other opportunities to sell your art.

A local museum hosts one night a month for all the local artists to come and hang out, enjoy a topic given by an artist, and also enjoy the exhibits currently hanging throughout the museum.

I like to go to live music events and a few times there have been opportunities to hang your work on the backdrop behind their performance--Super Cool!

Teach your technique.

These are some of what I've encountered. All of these opportunities have produced art collectors of all walks of life. I'm sure people can add to this list.

I agree with all of this. And every artist will have their own, unique journey to find the people who will appreciate and buy art from them. Everything Rafi said was spot on. I do believe you have to know your niche. Niche is (not your art category)...niche is the people who your art will speak to. It's specific. That's the journey you must take. There has never been a better time in history for artists to sell their work than the last 20 years...and it keeps getting better! Momentum happens with each sale. And do try to get to know your collectors...because they could introduce you to other people like them who might like your work (referral sales). It's all possible for those willing to do the work.

You brought up some great points about finding collectors wherever you happen to be. Another point to make is that each time you sell a work, you have created a potential repeat customer. This is why I like to write my email address or web address on the back of my paintings.

Love you guys and enjoy your videos. I’m trying to teach myself to sketch, and been watching videos on making jewelry. I have not graduated to silver wire yet, but will eventually take that leap of faith perhaps in another year or so.

I was terrible in art class and the elderly art teacher would walk the aisle in class to inspect our attempted sketch of a head. The way she would correct us (5th grade mind you) was with a red pen. I was so discouraged as she draw over my lines with that red pen.

So here I am a the age of 67 trying my hand again at sketching. It may be horrible but there is no red pen involved.

It's very difficult being an artist with social anxiety. There are all these people around at markets or festivals, and all I have to do is interact. All that really comes out is an awkward smile and wave. "Hello, I'm AVK. I'm an Aaah lol... I always feel like no one really cares. I know that's a fallacy. But my automatic negative thoughts are all like, "Oh.. you make things? That's cute..."

Collectors find you. I have friends that are artist too. Sometimes we trade art with one another. Most folks like nature watercolors or photography more than the style of art I do. Art is so subjective to the viewer. To paraphase Willly Shakespeare.
To Thine Own Art Be True .

Totally true, they’re everywhere. It would be funny if there was a concrete place where they’re found. I bring business cards with me anywhere I go and if they show interest, there’s artwork on my business cards & they get to keep a small piece of my art.

Great talk. I'm feeling very fortunate because I have found about 3 people on Etsy that have bought from me multiple times now. It's so thrilling. It's a good thing because I am living outside the city now without transportation and am not able to go anywhere to meet people. Work hard and get your art out there, everyone. But be aware of eBay. I put some paintings up on eBay and went through a roller coaster emotionally after getting some great offers, only to find out they were scammers. I went to the eBay forum though and learned some things to do to prevent this in the future if I decide to list more there. Do you all (Rafi and Klee) sell anything on eBay?
