Ties between Tamil Nadu and the Centre have hit a new low as the DMK-led state government has defiantly dropped the rupee symbol from its budget, replacing it with a Tamil letter in a blistering rebuke to the BJP's alleged Hindi imposition through the National Education Policy. Chief Minister MK Stalin calls it a fight for linguistic identity; the BJP brands it a shameful stunt. With Rs 2,150 crore in school funds allegedly held hostage and a 'language war' raging, is this the breaking point for our 'unity in diversity' or just the opening salvo in a bitter political showdown? Watch the full show on NDTV.

Rs symbol is slightly modified Hindi letter. Also why all the schemes are named in Hindi and Sanskrit? Question that too.

C raman can only be seen in the godi media, in TN we considered him as a bjp spokesperson not a political analyst

Tamil Nadu has official state symbols:

• State Animal: Nilgiri Tahr (Nilgiritragus hylocrius)
• State Bird: Emerald Dove (Chalcophaps indica)
• State Tree: Palmyra Palm (Borassus flabellifer)
• State Flower: Gloriosa Lily (Gloriosa superba)
• State Song: Tamil Thai Valthu (“Invocation to Mother Tamil”) is considered the state song and is traditionally played at official functions.

In Tamil, Rupees ரூ / Ru / ₹ is written as ரூபாய் (Rūpāi) or simply ரூ. (Rū.) as an abbreviation.

Petty politics is dharmendra prasad blackmailing tn to accept nep in full to get the funds. 3 language policy is not acceptable to tn and it falls into deaf ears. What you expect from a state govt which implemented 2 language policy successfully and put tn on top be it in education or economy for many decades. We know it is an unnecessary burden on children and we will never accept the imposition. Respect unity in diversity.

NDTV puppets are in full promo mode. Withholding TN fund is politics. Using Tamil in TN is not.

If the centre has the audacity to deny us the funds for school education, from the money we pay as taxes, we have to show our resistance in some or the other way. Is imposing an unsuccessful three language policy on our children not arrogant? Is denying funds for education not petty?
