Audi A3 e-tron hidden 'B-Mode' discovered (EV regen braking) ?

Audi A3 e-tron hidden "B-Mode" discovered.

While "playing" with the car, I discovered the hidden b-mode that you can usually find in most hybrid cars (Toyota, Lexus...). It was strange to find it in the Golf GTE and not in the Audi.

Some suggested to go into EV and manual shifting mode, but i do not recommend this. The shifting on the upper gears were brutal on my car.
Going into sport mode, puts your car into hybrid hold, so it's not the point.

Anyway, what i am explaining in this video allows you to engage the b-mode. It seems to be a race condition and the car does not take the correct / normal information it should.

I have full EV power, and i soon as i take back the foot from the pedal, the car brakes and goes into the charging area on the gauge.

It definitely works good.

I own my A3 Etron now for 3 weeks, not only did I miss there is a special 'B mode' I also didn't now I can drive the car as manual. I learned alot today thanks 😂😂

I was missing an option to drive the electric motor a bit more aggressively.
The B mode is an additional advantage :P

The car is always regenerating when you brake in a normal way. The only difference with the bug is that you don't have to use the brake pedal in EV mode then. So the brake pedal is B mode in essential.

Very interesting. I know Audi chose the gliding off throttle in D to maximize range for open road, but regen in city conditions is probably easier to do than constantly be on the brake.

I may try this on my 2016.

Hi there, I just bought one of these myself and am finding it has a very small but noticeable 'jolt' on the auto gear change when running on electric mode but not at all when using the engine. I'm curious if yours does the same? I'm struggling to get answers on this (even from the main dealer). Many thanks, Toby

yeah and after changing to hybrid hold we increase fuel consumption to maintain the battery

My sister has the 2017 facelift model and we'd found this doesn't work sadly. She uses D mode and then the left paddle to regen when needed and it's as close as it can be to this. The car suggests to shift up but I presume this is all fine to use regularly in EV mode, not stressing the EV powertrain like it would an ICE?

well, okay, you now gain the one pedal driving, but what you lose is the coasting without any engines you would have in D. Isn't that a major downside? You're always either acellerating or recharging.

Regen B mode should be possible, at least, all the time the car is using the EV motor independently of the driving mode (M D S). It seems that Audi has separated the S mode and EV and what you discovered is a workaround (not a regen B mode).
Can you use the S mode along with the Hybrid Auto? I guess not
Does the user manual indicate the M mode? Does it mean the car does not shift gears in the M mode?

Hello, I have a question. I have a Audi A3 etron 2015. When I fill up the car it’s say you can drive 410 km with it ( gas and electric full ).
Is this normal? Can I reset this back to 650km?
