I finally get to share a secret that I've held for the ENTIRE Scrappy build! Scrappy has dynamic suspension that allows me to change the setup for differing terrain, takeoffs, windy conditions, and more! Now you know all the secrets...well, so far :) Thank you to KING Shocks for working with me to create a custom suspension system, you guys are the best!

Here's another video with more on the suspension and a bit of the hangar from my friend Dmitry!

Wow! I thought those switches were something like this (there were more than a few indications for those who were paying careful attention), but I never suspected the level of polish and integration. In retrospect, I guess I shouldn’t have been surprised. Incredible!

There is a mad scramble right now at Horizon Hobby trying to design a 100 channel transmitter to control all the features they will have to include on the Scrappy RC airplane.

This thing is absolutely nuts! Thank you for taking the time to make videos to bring us along on the journey!

I learn more engineering watching Mike, than I did during my 8 years of university studies in mechanical engineering. Combine that with 45 years of private flying makes this my No. 1 YouTube channel.

*Hey Mike, Hope you read this!!
I know how you always take things to the next level. But this idea I have may be something you may not have considered. So In the Marine Corps we “helicopter maintainers” use the nitrogen pressure side that is inside our shock strut’s suspension to determine the weight of the helicopter. You could use your suspension to do the same thing. This is basically accomplished by Lowering the suspension: by bottoming out the strut... fill with pressure... the moment the suspension moves... record the results... do some math and make a chart.. next thing you know you now have the weight of the aircraft. 😉
Love the work you do, keep it up!

Just one more reason Mike Patey is my aviation hero. Nobody is innovating like Mike!

Mike I swear if you tell us you're designing the wings to sweep back like a tomcat I'm gonna lose it!

I am a mechanical engineering student from germany. I have no connection to aviation, but I have been watching Mike for over a year now and everytime I see Mike has uploaded a video I just smile! I know it will be a video full of pure positivity and the absolute dedication to new technology just amazes me. Thank you for sharing your hard work and passion with us

For a second I thought you were going to surprise us with two new videos in one day? This video is so good, I’ve already watched it twice. Keep living the dream, and inspiring people like me to do the same. I truly appreciate the inspiration.

Having built an airplane (N173CP-{2003}) and being a person with an engineering bent and OCD I appreciate the monumental effort expended on your hobby. That being said some of the personal things I have observed in your attitude and conduct underscore your core values. I admire your tenacity work ethic and ethos. I pray that your hard work and successes are continually rewarding. I believe it was Albert Einstein who said that the process of successful experimentation is 1% inspiration and 99% perspiration. I maintain that the journey is the reward - BACK TO WORK! - - - And thank you for reinforcing the joy of invention!

Mike, I don't need to tell you something that you already know but, you are a genius...a true innovator and inventor. What I continue to be amazed at is not only your ability to conceptualize an idea or part, but your ability to design and build it. Amazing!!!

The only reason we don't have a practical flying car is because Mike Patey hasn't decided to do that yet.

I remember the early build when we all thought the airboat prop was the craziest part on this plane! Can't wait to see how you are gonna blow our minds with the wing!

Mike, your innovation and engineering brilliance is remarkable. I have watched this Scrappy build from the beginning and am amazed by something you do every single episode. I thought Draco was the pinnacle of aviation, but I was wrong, Scrappy is just on a whole different level! Congrats and thank you for all that you do for the aviation community,
