When I was a kid, the FF would use a red hose, pulled off a reel, and they put nearly everything out with that. Where did it go? Would it not still be helpful for fires like this, quick knock dows, trash fires, brush fires, small garage fires, etc.. I don't know why it is necessary to always pull that long canvas hose. Plus, it seems like it takes forever to get the water flowing. The small red hoses of yesteryear were already filled with water. It was always on. Missing I'm something here perhaps?

Why not use the 1" high pressure hose reel much quicker on the job and of course get up wind. Seemed very casual to me after my 30 years of rural fire fighting.

Who pulls 200ft. of crosslay for a car fire?

The amount of intensity they used was great. Seems in a lot of videos, these firefighters have done it so many times, it loses it appeal. Maybe these guys were still new? Great vid.

Been out of fire service for 15 years. Maybe that's the way things are done nowadays.

Whatever happened to booster lines and jump lines? Sure wrestling around a lot of hose for a car fire!

Don't see green fire trucks too often. Only one company I can think of in my area (Greenfields Co. 55).

Might have stood upwind. Air packs are a good idea, in any case. Upwind, you can better see what you are doing.

Not good standing directly in front of engine compartment fire, attack it from the side

Must be a green crew? Attack the fire from up wind, not down wind.
