100% worth it. Looks and functions are perfect. With most other cars a bbk is twice the price. Now with that said, yea the hidden cost is new tires and wheels/spacers. But at the end of the day I don't regret getting the akebono's at all.

I did this upgrade on my 07 M35x. I didn't need it since I ever had an issue with my calipers or pads. I did the install myself so I'm not sure of how much the total cost would've been. I do love the look of the bigger calipers. Since I was replacing the calipers I also upgraded to steel braided brake lines as well. I did notice a better brake response right off the bat. Technically didn't need to do this but I love the look and feel of the bigger calipers.

Nicely detailed and layed out. One thing missing is our cars are used for drifting. Stock vs Sport upgrade

First loved the video breakdown always up front. The video comparison with FX 50 and you opened driver door and there may have been some leaves or mud on the floor board. You said this is my work vehicle “mind your business “ 😂 Your accent and everything had me weak. Keep doing what you’re doing Brother. I recently purchased thanks to your videos the last year made 2017 QX 70 Limited Edition. Bought it online up north in Midlothian Illinois sight unseen “no judgement “ 😂 had it shipped to Va Beach, arrived missing back wiper, called dealer salesperson and he sent me one👍IBA light would come on so no cruise control no FCW bought 4 year warranty you would think they would cover a braking safety feature that was engaging and disengaging over a broken speed sensor that was installed improperly within centric hub. At least that’s what Infiniti dealership told me. Not a cheap fix but cheaper than front laser sensor. Anyway bringing old girl back to life love the safety features now that they work. I drive about 300 miles each week so considering the big rotor big caliber upgrade. Have you done a video or know of a blind spot warning mirror detection replacements where turn signal detection is in the mirror and on backside of mirror? Will the QX 50 mirror work? Also no remote start, any suggestions?

Coupled with balanced review this was clear and concise. Well done.

My Infiniti came with bbk but I just bought some z1 2 piece rotors and it shaved 30 pounds all around on rotors and the look of them is a plus

Regarding the base rear calipers seizing up... I've had a few leased Altimas, so they were relatively low mileage, probably not enough to kill the calipers. But one thing that did stand out to me was I consistently wore out the rear pads a) before the fronts b) seemingly prematurely for the given mileage. This was with a fairly aggressive driving style, which led me to suspect the rears are somewhat inadequate in terms of heat dissipation, perhaps resulting in more pad consumption. Perhaps overheating could explain the rear calipers seizing prematurely too. As a side note, I have an FX with what I assume are the same or similar calipers, and although the brakes are pretty capable of stopping the car, the mechanical foot-on-pedal force required is pretty high. Akebono seems like a good all around solution.

I would be interested in the stopping distance from 100 km/h before and after the upgrade. I drive an QX70 3.7 and can definitely feel the fading after a couple of aggressive overtakes on a land road (Landstraße) when you need to brake from 120-140 or more down to 60 km/h.

2018 Q60 Red Sport. Upgraded to carbon ceramic 405mm all around, carbon ceramic pads, Italian carbon fiber braided brake lines. For my case I'd say 100%. I'm not encountering less mpg. Actually increased mpg. Handling is better because there's less weight on the suspension. But this is the most extreme case. Definitely worth upgrading your brakes.

I replaced my stock rotors and pads and they became warped again within 5K miles. Im upgrading

I have a 2011 Infiniti m37 base. And I just purchased all brake calipers from a Infiniti m37 sports, will these brake calipers fit on my base model rotors?

I’m still doing research but I plan to buy 2008-2015 G37 Akebonos for my 04 G Coupe, I know I will have to cut the shield, do
I just go to my local auto parts store and ask for G37 08 rotors? I’m unsure of the size, also
I assume I will have to ask for G37 08 pads and I’m good right? I’ll get braided lines too.

Awesome video, I'm thinking of just doing the powerstop sport upgrade, just the rotors and pads for my Q50.
Question, are all brake pads the same size? Like are they all interchangeable? Akebono rotors with base calipers? Or Akebono brake pads with base rotors and calipers?

Wow, great video, very well presented and thought out. I've looked at some other videos about bigger brakes and figured for my own car it would be a waste of time as the stock brakes are fine. It's an Infinity G37X, but it's also going on 11 years old, so new braided brake lines would be worth doing if I replace the old lines anyway. Usually hen it needs brakes I do look at aftermarket rotors and pads to see if there's better available as it's worth some improvement. A good time to flush the brake system is when you're doing a brake job anyway but people rarely think of that. And interesting observation on the rear calipers sticking on Nissans, I'll get a look at mine sometime, and maybe lube the sliders just to make sure they're ok.

THANK YOU for this video. I was thinking of upgrading and this definitely helped me decide that its NOT worth it. OEM all the way for my QX70 Limited with the upgraded rims. Guess i''ll just paint them red lol.

A must do upgrade on any infiniti/nissan. Put them on my maxima for around $700 for powerstop reman akebonos/rotors/pads and they’re amazing. The factory brakes on the maxima suck and these feel significantly more powerful.

Brakes are always based on an compromise, How much brakes do you actually need, vs. bigger brakes will make the cars other perfomance properties worse. Rotor mass are more about braking capacity than brake force. That's also the reason you see huge brakes on track cars and tiny brakes on drag cars. Serious drag cars are doing hard stops from 200+MPH with rotors smaller than used on motorcycles. They can do it because the brakes got long cooling time between each use, so it doesn't matter such an stop make the super tiny rotor glowing red. Hardcore race pads will still brake hard with glowing hot rotors.

Great content! Did you assess the weight difference with the wheels and tires? I understand going up in size with OEM wheels will typically net in an increase, but I was just curious if you measured it in your case.

For the record, I am in your camp more and more. I am an OEM+ guy in most cases, but I also have a 1991 300ZX that is all original and the akenobo upgrade has always been on the "maybe one day" list but you may have just swayed me off the fence to stay with the stock setup.

When you are into modding your cars, worrying about warranties are a moot point, at least for me. I put this kit on my Maxima but I use two piece rotors with light weight rims so I suffer none of the negatives you are dealing with my friend. I now have better fuel economy, better handling! Enkei RPF 1 wheels, 2 piece Mitsubishi Evo X rotors.

There is a lot of info on internet that diameter of brake disk only influence overheating not the brake performance. And they have a lot of scientific proofs.
