Formerly blind dog Duffy seeing the family after surgery

This is my Irish Terrier Duffy. He's a rescue dog and he's had a lot of struggles with his health. He developed diabetes and lost his eyesight. With medication we got his diabetes stable and he qualified for eye surgery to give him back his sight. Here he is seeing my parents for the first time in months.

Also, I should mention that Duffy's surgery and treatments took place at the Veterinary Referral Center in Malvern, Pennsylvania. Special thanks to Dr. Kevin Kumrow who regulated Duffy's diabetes so that Dr. Brady Beale could operate on him.

It's clear he hears their excitement over him, and he is loving it, I people who speaks to their pets in this voice, it is the same when you enter the maternity ward and into the newborn room, it is the same It is true

I remember before I got a dog years ago that I had one promise to myself. I had one job: Never ever talk in "dog language" / "baby language" to my dog. I told myself it was stupid. However, after owning a dog and losing it I know exactly why people use that voice. I did it too. :')

I lost my dog about a month ago now. Saying goodbye was one of the toughest experiences I've ever gone through. It's still very difficult for me to think that she's gone, I'd find myself looking for her all the time afterwards, only to remember.. It's amazing the connection you develop with your pets. It makes me really happy to see dogs like this that are so loved and appreciated by their families. Enjoy every minute with your pets, life is too short. I was blessed to have had the great times I did with my dog.

I remember how I came for my dog after his surgery, he was so happy to see the family, it's hard to describe. He died later that day because of a heart attack. Pet's love and gratitude are some of the best and purest things we can experience, I hope this dog is still happy as after the surgery.

What an incredible story. It just tugs at my heart to see and hear Duffy's reaction to having sight once more. The wagging tail and the cries of joy coming from a very loved dog says it all. He can once more see his "family". I do mean "family". He may be a dog but I'm sure he's part of the family. I live alone and my closest family member is my dog. Enjoy the rest of your life Duffy!
