Tatered. Tots.
36,000 years ago our ancestors, warmed and lit by fire stolen from Prometheus, painted pictures of bison and cattle in the caves of Altimira in northern Spain.
The 5th century BC Athens brought us the golden age of Pericles, the birth of democracy, and Artistotle's Poetics, the framework for every story since told.
The 17th century was Shakespeare, 18th the Declaration of Independence, 19th was Nietzche.
Then for a while there was nothing. Then, there was SUPER DELUXE. Then, nothing again.
Now is Tatered.

She is a really insightful and amazing artist. I know another artist a lot like her. I bet she is a fantastic teacher.

First time I saw this was on the fly leaves of seventeenth century books. Back in seventeenth century England this was known as 'Turkey paper' and was often used decoratively in book binding for inside the book binding boards or as I said for fly leaves.

Marbling was once used as a way to mark legal currency. It used to be such a secretive art that apprentices were only taught tiny sections of the process: one apprentice learned how to mix the paints, another learned how to thicken the bath, another learned how to drop and manipulate the paints, etc.

I have done something similar to this with paint and shaving cream. The designs that come out always amaze me. Kids love it!

Love this work. I want to get into bookbinding and good endpapers are hard to come by so this method might let me create my own - if it does not become an end in itself
