RAMP is a community project running in June, aimed at encouraging beginners to try mapping for Doom! Anyone is welcome to join, and I would love to see what you make.

This covers some basic concepts in UDB, building rooms and placing objects.

I want you to know, that for all the online tutorials and video demonstrations I've been studying, your series here has been the first one that actually made it make sense to me.

I think if I can get a bit more confident in UDB I'll be sending in something for RAMP.

I love map building!! just started doom modding about 4 months ago, i have a deep nostalgia for it so when I found out about gzdoom I was an excited kid again lol very good tips I'd like to show you mine and also play some of your maps as well that'd be cool

used to mod doom back in 2000/2001, and just now getting back into it. it is unbelievable how much easier it is to make maps now. your video is super helpful too, thank you!

it may take me a year to become somewhat fluent / confident with this tool, but consider it a worthwhile investment

You're like the Bob Ross of Doom mapping. You start with nothing and in about 30 minutes you have a great looking level.

I've long had the idea of taking the original episode maps and drastically retexturing them, making some minor changes here and there. Using a tool like this might let me do it.

currently im about 66% through my first map and look foward to posting it and getting feedback

if theres a ramp 2023 i will be submitting my current map and any future ones to that.

I think the Demon still sees you immediately when you pass by the window due to the 180 degree default field of view.

wow, back when I used to make doom maps there was NO 3d preview or anything. that 3d view makes it so much easier lol

Question, how do you get the candelabra to have a lightsource on them? Is it something to setup in gzdoom, or in the base wad used or something?

Hey, I'm just now introducing myself to the Doom mapmaking world and I'm having issues loading a test map. When I click the drop-down icon on the play button, it doesn't allow me to select GZDoom as an engine option like you have it displayed below the difficulty select. Are there any particular workarounds for this?

Ive never figured out the difference between Doom: Doom 2 (Doom format) and GZDoom: Doom 2 (Doom format)
they both have all the same sector and line actions, does the gzdoom one have any extra features? or is it do do with the file format or something

Edit: seems like the gzdoom format has separate flags for things in deathmatch and coop, the vanilla format only has a flag for multiplayer

Would be nice if the devs would address the issue with the latest AMD drivers causing UDB to CTD upon starting or loading a map.
