The rain effects on models is done via a fragment shader. one of the artists at valve teased a breakdown on bluesky. So I hope we get to learn more. This is the kind of technical art I would love to learn and do.

What i'm impressed by the most is the performance on those maps. They look so good and still manage to run at max settings native 1440p 140 fps on my PC without an issue. Even with all the crazy smoke and fire effects going on fps doesn't drop at all. S2 seems to be very well optimized.
