As a Colombian it is almost weirdly incredible for me to think that not many countries are as diverse as my country. Seen videos like this not only remind me that I grew up in a paradise of diversity but they also make me feel very proud of being Colombian. As a country that has been overshadowed by its complex political history for many years, it is amazing to see that we are moving forward. We’re moving to a phase of development and hopefully recognition.

The fact that Jhonny can speak Spanish makes this video much better.

Can this guy just make his own YouTube channel? He's the only reason I'm subbed to Vox lol

Its very interesting how as a Colombian I think all of these fruits are really common, we take them for granted and we don’t really appreciate the huge diversity we have. Very cool video

As a Colombian, I thank you for coming to Colombia and showing the rest of the world what a truly wonderful place Colombia is. On a square meter basis, no country is more bio diverse. Colombia accounts for less than one percent of the Earth’s land mass but within our borders approximately 20 percent of all species are found. Brazil has more species but Brazil is 7x larger than Colombia. Fruit is ubiquitous in Colombia, there are fruit carts everywhere. Given the country’s vast number of ecosystems and climates, we can grow just about anything though not necessarily in great quantity. Lulo, also called naranjilla, is a member of the nightshade family. It is only found in Colombia and Ecuador. It is primarily consumed as a juice. The fruit contains a higher amount of vitamin C than any citrus and more amino acids than any other fruit on the planet. You drink a glass of lulo and it is instant energy and refreshment.

Went to this market in Bogota in September and tried over 15 fruits on our tour. So many good flavors and tastes were not used to in the US. It was an awesome experience I can't wait to go back to Colombia!

My parents are from Colombia and I lived there for a couple months and I miss the food the most. You truly don't know how bad the food is in the Untied States until you leave the country.

I've been away from Colombia for almost 13 years, and one of the things I miss the most is the food, specially the fruits. I remember always drinking freshly made juice, each day a different fruit.

So, how was your night?
Chewing pitahaya seeds (well known for their laxative properties), biting a lulo like an orange or mamoncillo seeds... my sweet summer child! XD

I loved it. Too bad you did this in Bogotá. Despite it is the best place to do this in the city, the city itself is not the most fruit-diverse place in the country. But it is a good glimpse and teaser of our fruit diversity anyway. I'm glad you liked it.

I'm a Colombian and I live in Bogotá. I can safely say Colombia is a complete waste of everything. It's so beautiful and so biodiverse, yet it has not been able to take off!

I'm so thankful people like Johnny are making these amazing videos in my country, thanks!

I wouldn’t eat a whole pitaya like that... he’ll regret that later on the toilet.
