Rice cooker on 2 budgets. $80 Tiger brand vs $300 cuckoo pressurized rice cooker. Is it worth the difference? I bought both from Costco and wanted to see if the price difference is worth it #rice #thesushiguy

Cuckoo uses pressure to cook rice so the texture is more chewy and sticky which is intended for people who prefer that texture instead of fluffiness. If you want fluffiness then you can choose non pressure mode on cuckoo.

My cousin gave me their Zojirushi 10 cup. No clue how old it is, I've had it for over a decade and it's still going strong.

Meanwhile, I have a dirt cheap one person rice cooker because anything else makes way too much rice, but I hope one day to get a proper rice cooker. Tiger ones look so good.

I replaced my pressure Zojirushi rice cooker with a pressure rice cooker from Cuckoo and never looked back. The main difference: the speed of the Cuckoo without compromising quality. I find that speed really matters when I'm getting home from work and cooking on a weeknight. The Zoji took about 45-50 mins for white rice and about two hours for brown rice. The Cuckoo, about 26 mins for white rice as shown in this test and brown rice in 52 minutes. These much faster times have made the rice cooker much more useful on a daily basis.

I put a Zojirushi on our wedding registry and OMG I hope someone gets it for us! 😅 I’ve gotten pretty good at the knuckle technique but it would make life soooo much easier!

Growing up we only had a cheap Aroma brand rice cooker. I had no idea how terrible it was until I bought a nice Zojirushi and my life completely changed

I have a larger tiger one, and I love that thing so much!

It replaced my old one with flaking Teflon and the old one also had inconsistent texture, with the bottom getting crunchy. The tiger is always perfect! And it's easier to clean too, because the non stick coating works better than the old one ever did!

Highly recommend tiger units as an entry level

Recently bought that Tiger, and it feels like a Tesla. Granted I've only had cheap ones before, but its so perfect. 45 min seems long, but I usually start it early. It holds warm rice really well.

I bought that Tiger rice cooker when it was on sale at Costco a few years ago. I have been pretty happy with it. The rice is much better than when I made it in my Instant Pot. They actually turn out into pieces of rice instead of mush. Definitely a worthwhile purchase.

I can’t wait to be able to afford a nice rice cooker! I’ve had the same $15 one from H mart for 3 years and it still works so I’m not in a hurry 😅

I got a $20 rice cooker and I’m happy with it.

Tiger makes excellent quality stuff. Twenty years on and still in perfect condition! That’s quality!!!

Or just get an Instant Pot! 3 minutes on high pressure, then let it sit for 10mins before opening the lid, perfect short grain rice every single time. Other varieties take different amounts of time but it's easy to google it up :)

I need to figure out a good way to clean the rice cookers with the attached lid.

My dad gave me one of my parents’ rice cookers. I don’t even know what brand it is bc it’s so old the label is gone. It’s at least like 30 years old and only has one switch but it’s still going strong and makes fantastic rice and steamed foods so I’m sticking w it.

I don't even know the brand of mine, I got it for like $20 at marshall's, but it works great, there's just a cook function and a warm function lol

We have an $8 rice cooker from the thrift store. We had been using our Instant pot but we dropped it 😢
