For those that don't know, this is the 1939 Mercedes T-80. The fastest car you've never heard of. It used a 44.5 liter engine to make around 3000-3500 horsepower. And it reached speeds of 750 kmh.

A war was needed to stop that thing to show its whole potential. That's when you know it was a true monster for its time. It was said to reach 600 km/h (or 750 km/h depending on where you look). But it has never been actually confirmed because WW2 started. And the engine of that beast was used in military vehicles instead.

The Mercedes-Benz T80 was never tested to get to its projected top speed of 600 kph or 375mph; it never even hit the road because of the war. It is most likely it would not have reached its projected top speed in the first place, but we will never know since it was not tested.

The truth is that it did run 750 km per hour, it is not much of a problem, but if it reaches 1000 km per hour, it is almost colliding with the speed of sound, that is already deadly.

The Mercedes T-80, an extraordinary machine crafted with a harmonious blend of elegance and power, captivates the imagination of automotive enthusiasts and casual observers alike. Its timeless design, reminiscent of an era long gone, evokes a sense of nostalgia and wonder. As I delve into the captivating tale of the Mercedes T-80, allow me to paint a vivid picture of this magnificent creation.

In the annals of automotive history, the T-80 stands as a testament to the indomitable spirit of human innovation. Born during a time of great change and upheaval, the late 1930s, this mighty machine was the brainchild of gifted engineers and craftsmen who sought to push the boundaries of speed, ultimately aiming for the illustrious land speed record.

The T-80's aerodynamic silhouette, with its sleek curves and tapered body, exudes a sense of raw power and refined sophistication. It encapsulates the zeitgeist of its era, merging artistry and engineering to create a vehicle that is not merely a means of transportation but a work of automotive art.

Underneath its mesmerizing exterior lies a meticulously engineered heart, a colossal 3, 000 horsepower engine specifically designed to propel this behemoth to unprecedented speeds. The T-80's powertrain, a testament to Mercedes' pursuit of excellence, is a symphony of engineering brilliance, each component working in perfect harmony to extract every ounce of performance from the roaring beast within.

The courage of the driver, undoubtedly a person of remarkable skill and resolve, adds yet another layer of mystique to the T-80's captivating narrative.

Alas, despite its immense potential, the T-80 never had the opportunity to truly test its mettle. The outbreak of World War II and the subsequent disruption of society's fabric halted the pursuit of the land speed record, relegating this magnificent machine to the realms of untapped potential and forgotten dreams.

Nonetheless, the legacy of the T-80 lives on, a testament to the tireless pursuit of greatness and the relentless pursuit of human ingenuity. It stands as a reminder that even amidst the chaos of the world, there are those who dare to dream and push the boundaries of what is possible.

Fun fact: the t80 was never driven because of ww2, so they destroyed the body, but the car's frame survived, so they rebuilt it and put it into the mercedes museum in germany, Stuttgart
