Are you Smashing this?!

I was in the mood for a gyro, and wanted to try something new and more approachable that making a traditional gyro meat… and this was amazing!

The gyro meat:
• 1.5-2 lbs of Ground Beef
• 1 tbsp each of Salt & pepper - use less if you prefer
• 1.5 tbsp ground cumin
• 1- 1.5 tsp garlic powder
• 1 tsp onion powder
• 1 tsp ground coriander
• 1 tsp dried oregano
• 1 tsp smoked paprika

Just mix everything into the meat and you’re all set! I like to let it sit covered in the fridge for 30 mins or so to develop a bit.

To make the gyro, just smash a generous amount of the seasoned beef onto a pita, and set aside.

Melt down some Ghee over medium heat, and place the pita in, meat side down.

Cook for 3-5 minutes depending, I usually start checking it after 3 minutes. When the beef is cooked through, take it out and let it rest on a wire cooling rack so the pita doesn’t get soggy on the bottom.

Top it off with your favorite pita toppings like tzatziki, lettuce, tomato, red onion, and feta!

Enjoy!
