Bad idea. Some use an old trick from when cars were burning oil when they got old and would then foul the spark plug. They put an adapter into the spark plug hole and then the spark plug back into the adapter. This kept the plug further back and away from the oil so that it did not oil foul so quickly and cause a miss. Well, videos like this one came out and suggested doing the same thing with your o2 sensor to fool the computer. They suggested, like this one, to put that adapter in the o2 hole and the put your o2 sensor into the adapter. That keeps the o2 sensor further away from the exhaust gases where it is supposed to measure the amount of oxygen still in the exhaust. Well it works for a time until that cheap spacing adaptor melts into the threads making it all but impossible to install another o2 sensor. As others have said below, fix the problem.

2006 Prius, used the 02 sensor spacer to eliminate and trick the p0420, after 1 week I get a p0138 and shortly after multiple misfires. I dont know if the spacer caused this, but I removed it anyway. And I have 2 bad coils. Im replacing all plugs and coils. I cleaned the fuel injector connector plugs, and found the #3 was black inside, cleaned with electrical cleaner. A little oil on the #4 plug, which I will use a syringe and tubing to suckout any remaing oil. Hopefully finished for a while. Going on 300k miles.

Been driving 1000's miles for 7 weeks with a broken Nox Sensor downstream. Engine Check Light is on after starting. However no issue's with performance, mileage or misfiring, if anything it runs like a dream. It is only there for emissions I think, but a new one is very expensive. Obviously it needs to be replaced but I will look for a used Nox Sensor as I am soon going to sell my Vehicle, so it makes no sense to buy a new one.

Some mutt stole my cat and even though I had full coverage Geico would not pay for a new one so I bought aftermarket which started coding in a year or two I added a section of spark plug extender just like this, this last year its easy and i don't see any downsides, if you are rich and can afford a couple of thousand for a new cat go for it!

All the time and effort is getting to the sensor and unscrewing it (ask me how I know), the sensor itself is reasonable to buy if you source the part from the OE (less than half what the dealer wanted). In other words if you are go to this trouble, you might as well replace with the real thing.

I did it to my car with new aftermarket converters cause light had still come on so I just put them on as it runs very good waste less gas

Buy a new O2 sensor. They’re cheap under 100 bucks and if you have an upstream and downstream test them both to make sure they’re in range with an ohmmeter and if without out of range replace it, they’re cheap forget about a used one.

Lets say I have an 04 Silverado 4.8 and want to run straight pipe back to a muffler with no cat converter. Can the sensor function be disabled altogether? How? I think this is why hot rod builders prefer the older engines to work with that did not have all the crap on them.

Does the car run like new becouse if the cat is clogged the problem won't work since the air coming from throttle can't go through muffler and engine will get stuck and turn offf

Peace be upon you. I had a check mark in the car. [Kia Optima 2007 engine 2.0]. And I checked with a computer and the error came out... bank 1 sensor 2... meaning the second candle after the eco box and I changed it with a new candle and cleaned the eco box and the same thing. Is the error repeated and repeated I installed this thing that you explained in a video and nothing changed and the error appears again?
