I work at a company that in 2 years grew very rapidly. 2 years later we are still working hard on implementing DevOps in the old projects. Compared to new projects that implement DevOps deployment is such a drag on the old projects, especially when errors occure on customer installations. In some of these old projects it's simply not even feasible to even implement DevOps.
Soooo... listen to this guy! You willl hear about "scaling", "devops", and at the time other unfamiliar buzzwords during school. Try to practice devops consistently, and spend time playing with these tools asap. No fancy algorithms or math skills will save your sorry ass in the real world :)
