Steve Williams on Tiger Woods’ cheating scandal

Steve Williams on the inability to escape the controversy of Tiger Woods’ infidelity, saying he was unaware of Tiger’s behavior despite their close personal and professional relationship, and that he understands why people may assume otherwise. Williams also says that he didn’t know Tiger as well as he thought and that their relationship deteriorated very quickly after news of the cheating scandal became public.

I love all the comments from people attacking Tiger for his infidelities. Millions of men have done the very same, yet because they are not famous, no one cares. Tiger has a private life that really should not be open to the public. People do not need to know, it is just gossip. I see Tiger as a Golfer and nothing else. I do not know him personally, so I have no opinion of him personally. But if Steve was so upset, why did he not quit right then and there? And also remember, Tigers Dad and Uncle also had affairs, so he grew up thinking it was OK to do that. Just because someone is famous for something, does not give the public the right to know about their private lives. To me, if you need to know, then you do not have a life yourself.

It sounds like maybe Tiger being as exposed as such a cheater caused some personal issues for Williams. Maybe his wife wasn’t too happy to hear he was around all that activity thinking he might be supporting and engaging in it.
