I'm glad you made this video because this is way too much math, logic and science for my brain!!!! Plus, everytime you say "Walk The Line" I think of Johnny Cash.

For future reference, the tips that produce a fine mist is made to stay on the grass blades, while the the tips that produce larger droplets is good to get down to the dirt like when you are spraying your N-Ext products.

Jake, you gave rates for the 4 different nozzle tips. I was wondering which one you recommend and especially like to know your views on the PBP nozzle.

I've seen so many of these calibration videos and they seem overly complicated. What about just doing it like this...measure out 1000sqft on your driveway. Fill the sprayer with 2 gals of water and walking at YOUR normal pace, spray that 1000sqft area. After, measure the remaining water. Let's say from the 2 gals you used 1.1 gals. Perform this test several times to make sure you come up with similar results. If you do, you know that it takes you 1.1 gals to cover 1000sqft. You can then use 1.1 as amount of carrier you add to the sprayer for each 1000sqft. Add the proper amount of product for each 1000sqft. Now all I have to do is walk my pace holding my sprayer tip at a consistent distance and I will be putting down the product at the per/1000sqft rate. Like any other method, you will need to do the same calibration for each tip you use. Here is some example math. if my product is to be applied at 2oz/1Ksqft and I need to spray 3Ksqft, I add 6oz of product to the sprayer and fill to 3.3 gals (1.1 for each 1Ksqft) Now I will be applying the proper rate whether I'm spot treating or blanketing the whole lawn.

Great teaching there, Jake! Really awesome job. Also, I like the shirt you were wearing at the end when you were spraying your lawn. 😎👌

One comment, Jake - This was a good video and explanation of how to calibrate a backpack sprayer, but as you were spraying your yard you forgot what LCN has said to overlap your last spray line by about 6" or so to make sure you have an even and complete coverage of your yard with your spraying.
