Thanks for the video Charles. I'm a recent CCNA and I find a lot of jobs are asking for BGP experience at my level, so i'm working to learn as much about it as i can. This video was very well done, and i was able to follow along well. I did get really confused at the end, but i'm going to give it a shot in my lab and i think i'll be able to more fully understand it.

I've used local-as before and for a moment didn't really understand why you even brought it up in a video about Path Selection. But I had no idea about the *no-prepend replace-as* command, that is very helpful information!

Lucidly explained Charles-- Thanks! Prepending a route reminds me of the classic sci-fi movie where Elliott leads ET down the Skittles candy trail to influence him (the data packet) to go where he wanted.

Great video, Charles 👍. I always had a hard time following BGP theory. You make it look so simple. Thank You 😎

I have 2 questions:

1- What is the purpose of creating the route-map AS100? Wouldn’t just the AS100-PREPEND route-map serve the purpose of influencing the desired path selection?
2- Is the purpose of the prefix list only for use with the route-map? What is the difference between a prefix list and an ACL?

Hello Kevin thank you for your context, please help to confirm to uderstud. What are different ways to influence inbound and outbound traffic?

You didn’t influence r1 to the internet. You influenced the internet router’s path back to r1.

Hello. I understand the concepts, but do we really need the outbound AS100 Route Map for the Peer to AS200? Because if we dont specify the INET Router would choose this path anyway, or am i incorrect? Would be nice to hear it! Thanks for the Video!

It was so difficult for me...
I'll try it later!!

The chart was missing the IP addresses of the interfaces participating in BGP. Could've used another image at the beginning showing a "merger".

It wasn't clear why you made two route maps as it appears you only used one.

Also it appears you are only showing that you influenced the internet router's path back to R1 and not the other way around.

Similar voices but less thorough imo.
