The lead (sorry if that's the wrong term) sounds like a voice we can't hear. The emotions it's able to convey is to or even beyond the level that a human voice is able to. It feels as if the singer is just beyond our range of hearing but we can still detect it, their voice could even be described as... ultrasonic.
