Do you know other things that will vanish after retirement?

Don't you know who I was? It was difficult for me to wake up and go to work in my late 50s because I knew that financially, I didn't need to work anymore...so at age 58 I retired and boarded a plane for Ecuador. The hardest thing I have had to come to terms with since that day is...a complete lack of respect from banks, restaurants, airlines and retail workers that never got the memo that I am an important person and I will be visiting a city near you. It was culture shock and humbling to say the least. Two years later...I don't really care but fresh out of retirement it felt unbearable.

I am 80 years old and still employed. My employer still needs me. I love what I am doing so my job is more like a hobby to me. I don't have idea when to stop. Much better than volunteering because I am even getting paid.

My mother was a teacher for many years and several times she remarked on the number of male school principals she knew who seemed to feel completely lost after retirement and died within a few years. Now retired herself she keeps busy with volunteering, hobbies, friends and family. She's deliberately sought out new sources of purpose and social connection and is doing great.

I totally hate retirement .... i stressed out trying desperately to stop it. I loved my career job! I miss the atmosphere, the social interaction, the structure, etc. I been suffering with anxiety and depression. I just want to return to my position and routine daily life. Wish i could be happy as all of you... i guess im that guy .. the 1%'r.

I've retire long before the retirement age but I've been working on it for the last 20 year or so and I'm not missing anything you have pointed out despite the fact that I had them all and more, I've started a new life, I live on a property working on my projects and hobby I'm living my Tassie dream and for me I don't think can get better than this I'm very happy.

While preparing for retirement, the wisest thing that should be on every wise individual's list is to invest in different stream of income; I am earning more this year because I have been investing while working at the same time. I invested through TERESA JENSEN WHITE, same woman that an anchor kept mentioning on CNBC, and made multiple of my start up capital within three months . She lives here in the USA and she is licensed

Retired 14 years ago, well sort of, I actually still work several days a Month in my field and volunteer for several orginizations.
I'm never boared, still have many investments, still keep my credit active and keep my activity up to stay healthy. Retirement shouldn't be death but a new start and a new life style.

I've been working for my company for over 22 years and one thing that always amazes me is when a retiree does come for a visit how good they look. Like they look 10 years younger. Their hair looks healthier. Their face looks younger.

If you choose to live with gratitude then you'll never have a bad attitude I've been retired for 26 years .

Good advice. You need to prepare for retirement like a military campaign. Figure out things to do afterwards, like side hustles that keep you busy and still bring in some income. If you do no preparation and just stop working cold, you are asking for trouble. And just playing golf is not preparing for things, you will become one of those sad guys who has to be on the course every day at the same time, like it's your new office - and that's soul-crushing.

I am on social security but I still drive for Uber for extra money and to be able to talk to people. I still work. This ignores social security and 502 k.

Good points. Also making new friends is a lot more difficult once you are not working anymore. Which is ironic since its one of the most important things to have in retirement. Notice many here commenting "not me!" - which is great for them - but they are true for many others as the title highlights.

When we work we want spare time...and when we have that we want some work.. irony of life.
I think retirement should be a period of living the moments without any expectations (of course with some money in hand) and sharing the joy with others. Give more expect nil.

Honestly, I don't miss much those u listed. May be cuz of my Buddhist teaching of impermanence, "let go" and self reliance. Personally its much more energising to set new goals for a new chapter of your life. Something your passion tells you to do.

P.S. still enjoy your channel immensely, thou 😊

Everything stated is true! I find "retirement" similar to a weekend that never ends.

I've been retired since 2007 and 95% of what she said is not true in my life. I'm loving this life. I do what I want, when I want, and it is a blessing from GOD. And I am thankfull.
