In this series equivalent capacitance example, we start with a simple circuit containing a power source and two capacitors in series. We use the series equivalent capacitance formula to simplify the capacitor circuit to a single equivalent capacitor. Next, we compute the charge on the equivalent capacitor, which we argue must be the same as the individual charge on series capacitors. This allows us to compute the voltage on each capacitor in the original circuit.
