In this animated lecture, I will teach you about the sound intensity level and sound intensity.

Sound intensity level is defined as the difference between the loudness of two sounds. Sound intensity level is denoted by the Greek letter "Beta". Sound intensity level is unit-less, because it is the ratio between two same quantities. Sound intensity level measures how one sound is louder than other sound in bels or in decibels.

While sound intensity is the amount of sound energy that passes through unit area in one second. Sound intensity measures the amount of sound power that passes through unit area.

Thus sound intensity is different from sound intensity.

Weber Fechner law states that loudness of any sound is directly proportionalto the intensity of the sound. We use Weber Fechner law to derive the formula of sound intensity level or equation of sound intensity level.

We measure sound intensity level in bels and decibels. Bels is a large scale and decibels is a small scale
