Hey Jesse, massive kings fan here and I wanted to give my opinion on this signing. I think it is perfect for both sides but especially for the kings. Byfield put up 55 points last year while only 21. The potential on this kid is insane, and I think in the next couple seasons he could possibly touch 70-80 points. Especially with him driving his own line at center now. Super pumped to have qb on our team and I can’t wait to see what he brings this season! Love the content man!

Lets Bro's market value was nearly $7.5m this past season and he's just getting started. QB could be a $10-12m player as soon as next season. Not exactly ideal that he'll be a UFA when he's 26 but hey, I'll take it. If he really becomes the player I think he will, the Kings will offer him a massive extension when he's nearing the end of this contract.

the first normal contract in nhl history.

Win-Win deal. 5 years like Matthew's second contract to go straight to UFA right before his peak.

Love this for the Kings and wonder if this signing has an effect on Lucas Raymond's contract.

Auston Matthews signed a similar type of contract as an RFA, higher AAV though obviously

It's almost identical to what the Avs did with Makar.

Wonder when the hate for only a 5 year term will come for the kings will come like with Matthews

i was hoping we might toss an offer sheet at him. and i'm a habs fan.

the kings' competitive window is now? if that's the case, WHY DON'T THEY GET A FUCKING GOALIE? i know they traded cancer for kuemper. kuemper's trash. he's completely washed up. what the kings have is 3 lower tier backups.

this byfeild extension is actually smart. it's something of an anomaly for blake and his mentor bergevin - an actually smart move. despite the fact byfield may well be a point a game player this year, though, they'll probably miss the playoffs. they're still the dumbest front office in hockey. this team isn't going anywhere with blake and bergy in town.

It's a nice contract for sure, but it would have been better f they could have gotten a couple more years a that rate. If he turns out to be the stud you think he will, imagine the contract he'll command when he's 27.
