Reasons why Herobrine isn't real.
1.) The original creepypasta just doesn't add up. Why would Notch email (or even respond to) a random person claiming he'd seen a "ghost" in his game, why would he share such personal information with him?
2.) Countless fakes and videos are made to entertain, troll, and get views and followers.
3.) Herobrine's publicity has turned him into a mascot, not some demon lord form the 9th layer.
4.) If he's Notch's brother/family, what kind of hate or spite do you have to have to come back as a spirit/ghost and haunt, then torment your brothers creation?
5.) Logic... Nuff said.

i remember staying up late watching herobrine videos and feeling uncomfortable back in 2012. this is the oldest video i can find, seems like all the others are either deleted or private

My brother had been "haunted" by Herobrine. His house was griefed and he hadn't invited anyone on before as he didn't have Xbox Live yet. He also said he saw him hiding behind a few stone blocks in a cave.

So, my friend one day told be of this amazing 5 village seed. Now, he had been acting strange lately, and I just assumed it was puberty. Well, anyway, I got on and spawned in a desert, surrounded by villiages. The strange thing was, the villages were regular villages, not sand villages and there wasn't a forest in sight. I entered the villiage, and was greeted with zombie sounds, along with the hiss of creepers and the clanking of skeletons. It was odd, I thought, because it was the middle of the day. I checked the time, and it was a little after noon. I investagated, but saw nothing, so I figured it was nothing. Later, after I had looted the blacksmiths and claimed a house, I went hunting. I saw a figure in the distance, and I followed. I followed the mysterious figure to a pyramid and saw him disappear into the pyramid. There were many traps, but when I finally got past them I died.

Herobrine is a player in Minecraft who spawns in other player's worlds. Screenshots were taken of him; but one day Notch said they were " edited pictures"--- they were not. They tried to remove him, now he can't spawn in worlds--- but YOU can still spawn him. Bertie Shaw 04/10/13

I have a theory, Notch had a brother, right? Maybe his name was Brian, and they hated each other. This was probably right before minecraft. Notch got so angry at him once, he created an evil very rarely spawning mob that had super powerful abilities. But right before entering the game into publicity, Brian died, and Notch attempted to delete the mob. Somehow, in someway he failed, and Herobrine is terrorizing the few

I do have the xbox and pocket minecraft and I have a story so first I was playing minecraft xbox 360 and I saw a cow in the distance it wasn't a normal cow it had white eyes then I killed it nothing but a ghast tear I got so I was wondering what the hell was that ok ill make a house and quit the game so I quit the game tell tomorrow I went back in the game my house was destroyed it had sine's that said why why did you kill my cow IT WAS MY COW so I went to go up behind the mountains and I saw a guy at the sand village looking at me so I went up to it I saw nothing at the beginning so I quit the game again I played my pocket edition and made a new world it was the same as xbox minecraft world I saw nothing but sand and herobrine was behind me and killed me but he also crashed my game

The thing is that the Herobrine story came out, and Notch put in Removed Herobrine to scare the crap out of everyone. I think it was on the Spooky Friday update. When Minecraft got passed on to Dinnerbone and Jeb, they decided to continue the joke as a tradition for Notch, and to remember the good ol' days!
