Justice, mercy and faithfulness.
Justice must be met and is first in order. Mercy must come after justice. True mercy can exist only in its relationship to justice. True mercy fulfilled justice.

I just got finished studying this very verse (Matthew 23:24). I WANT TO SHARE AN INSIGHT. It is most likely that Jesus was speaking Aramaic. If so, what Jesus is saying here is a play-on-words.
The Aramaic word for "gnat" is "GALMA." And the Aramaic word for "camel" is "GAMLA." Now, put Jesus' words to the scribes and Pharisees you have this:
"Blind guides, who strain out a "g-a-l-MA" and swallow a "g-a-m-LA."
I confirmed this by reading a number of credible and scholarly commentaries. And its so ironic that I just finished this study like 2 days ago. And then, by Providence, saw this video post. COOL, huh !

In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God.  John 1:1 KJV    He was in the world, and the world was made by him, and the world knew him not.  John 1:10 KJV   And the Word was made flesh, and dwelt among us, (and we beheld his glory, the glory as of the only begotten of the Father, ) full of grace and truth.  John 1:14 KJV
