Check out this video of Pastor David Guzik introducing the first section of the book of Job!
It is rightly understood to be a masterpiece of Hebrew poetry and Western literature. It is not primarily about one man’s suffering and pain but theological. Job must deal with the fact that in his life, God does not act the way he always thought God would and should act. In this drama, the Book of Job is not so much a record of solutions and explanations to this problem; it is more a revelation of Job’s experience and the answers carried within his experience.

I have just been diagnosed with small cell lung cancer. I immediately thought to the book of Job and started studying it. Nothing better than this book of the Bible for anyone going through any kind of suffering and it is such a blessing. I thank you for posting this so I can hear it and help me keep my on the path of healing and positive attitude and my personal relationship with God and Jesus Christ. Bless you.

Thank you Pastor David for this message on the story of Job. Sometimes suffering seems long and tedious, but it's a good thing to be reminded that God is still in control. Praise our Lord and Saviour always!

Of all the studies on the book of Job I've heard, this one reached me deep enough to bring me to tears and a reason for repentance. So many unimaginable occurrences in my life gave me plenty of reasons to make comparisons, and dare to say, "Just call me Job." But it always stopped at the calamities. Nothing, absolutely nothing in me would give God (or anyone else, for that matter) cause to call me blameless. Shame on me. Thank You, God, for Your forgiveness and grace and mercy to teach and humble me with these words.

Really looking forward to the rest of this series.

Very realistic, and simple content Pastor. Thank you. This is a book where when you read it, you understand everything in the beginning and then you give up your streak after the 5th or 6th chapters because of the complexities of emotion, being, realism and deep insight between God and man and between men and men. Looking forward to learn from the whole series. Once again, Thank you very much.

I love how much God uses his teachings in his videos. I appreciate that its not some sort of motivation speech but an actual preaching with real life lessons. I also appreciate how Pastor David explains what cynic means, hedgerows, etc. I literally have a better understanding and encourages me to want to learn more about the bible. Thank you Jesus for your guidance. Thank you Pastor David!

Very nice explanation. These real events, also, teaches us lessons on how to help someone who is undergoing suffering. His so-called friends showed precisely what a Brother or Sister should not do.

I'm new to bible study. The book of Job has stirred a lot of emotions which I did not expect. Right now I am struggling with why God has allowed Job's struggles considering that Job was righteous & blameless. This to me is a new side of God's character.

Just a thought that came to mind. The opposite of light is the absence of light, therefore I would think the opposite of God is the absence of God. I don't want to know what that's like, but it's just a thought, not a critique.

I'm truly taken back with your analogy at the end that it is GOOD to inject poisons into a child. How can you say that is Gods work.

This is amazing content. I am a new untrained pastor in a small Kansas town (as a secondary profession because our church was pastorless) and have had people ask about the book of Job and have been trying to find more understanding of this book with videos and literature.

I wish that I could use some of your sermons without being a copyright infringer! Thank you for the insight, and God bless you.
