With the US deciding to deliver tanks to Ukraine, it makes no sense for Russia to talk to Kyiv or its Western "puppet masters," Russian Deputy Foreign Minister Sergei Ryabkov said on Monday, according to the RIA news agency.

According to a Kremlin official, Russian President Vladimir Putin is willing to talk with German Chancellor Olaf Scholz but has no plans to call him.

Scholz, who last week authorized sending Leopard 2 combat tanks to Ukraine, was cited in an interview as saying he would talk to Putin again but the onus was on the Russian leader to remove soldiers from Ukraine "to stop this awful, stupid conflict".

According to the French Ambassador, many countries have promised Ukraine 321 tanks.

People gathered in Kyiv, Ukraine's capital, to remember a British volunteer who was murdered during a rescue effort in the eastern town of Soledar in the Donetsk area.

Russia said it would not renew a treaty that permits Japanese fisherman to work near disputed islands because Japan has adopted anti-Russian steps.
