Consider this. At the end of the age, the great prostitute from Babylon is judged based on her perversions of: sex and money.

“For all nations have drunk the wine of the passion of her sexual immorality, and the kings of the earth have committed immorality with her, and the merchants of the earth have grown rich from the power of her luxurious living” (Rev. 18:3).

John then calls the people of God to come out of her and escape her judgment. When we started this two-week series, we learned that our obedience in our sex lives and our obedience with money are both important indicators about our walk of faith.

In terms of giving, we learned two important kingdom principles from Luke 16:1-12:
Ownership vs. Stewardship: we are not owners, but stewards of all that God owns.
Big doors swing open on little hinges: when you are faithful with little things, he will make you a steward of great things.
It was interesting to hear the interpretation of why the shrewd manager was praised for slashing everyone’s debts owed to the manager (Luke 16:8). We learned that he likely took his own exorbitant fees out of what was owed so that his manager could still generate a return and the borrowers could pay back less. Main Point: the breakthrough came when the manager took his greed out of the equation. He finally set his focus on stewarding and not trying to gain.

For Reflection:
Don’t lose sight of the gospel. Our sexual purity and our generous giving are in response to all that God gave for us.
Don't fear. The Lord always leads the righteous.
To disobey the giving command is not stinginess; it's robbery (Mal. 3:8).
Don't feel condemned if you are unable to give in this season, but commit it to prayer.
