Disney princess – the character – is dying, and our new Snow White might be the one who kills her.

Everything is a soap opera now. Good writing has been replaced with cheap propaganda and fake drama. And with the ongoing strike now who knows how long we will have to endure this garbage.

This is why I prefer the classic Disney princesses to the modern ones and I’m not gonna remember Rachel us know why because she’s not I’m not gonna remember Bailey as Ariel because she’s not. I’m sorry both of them twisted those two characters to the point where they were completely unrecognizable, so give me the classic over the modern Specially the classic over the twisted modern remakes of classics that don’t need to be done.

I remember years ago hearing a girl talk about how finally they had gotten some classic Disney Princess back with Tangled. The entire subject was alien to me, but even I can see that Disney are not giving people (long time fans/customers) what they want, rather they are pushing what they want.

If it were the case of a true visionary who draws from unconventional sources and doesn't concern himself with what others think (like Walt or Lucas) then largely good, but if it is ignoring what is true, what has beauty, what came before/where it came from (good or bad) to twist and fashion in your own image greater works then it is doomed.

Another way to look at it is that all the traits of the girl-boss (Doesn't need love in their life, goal-oriented, tries to force the world to bend to them) are all traits that are associated with 'toxic masculinity'. So on the one hand, these people are saying that if a man is overly stoic, determined to do everything themselves, doesn't compromise with others, and sees things like love and friendship as pointless, then he is toxic. He is a terrible person who needs to change to be a better person. And on the other hand, they're also saying that if a woman does all these same things, then she's powerful and inspiring and doesn't need to change. And if anyone says she needs to change, then those people are wrong; or worse, bigots who want to keep her down.
They can't have it both ways. You can't say that a personality type is good or bad depending entirely on which gender is doing it.

Imo modernizing Snow White should rather be about enhancing the relationships between the characters, making more historical accurate costumes and set pieces, and speeding up the pacing or adding something to make it more exciting/interesting (old disney movies tend to be too slow to be successful today).

I think they should "modernize" it by giving the prince more screen time (since it was too expensive to animate him in 1937) and to make their relationship genuine. They should also rather focus on Snow White's friendship with the dwarves, and on her abusive relationship with the queen.

The reason Tangled was successful, was because they gave Flynn a whole character and focused on his and Rapunzel's dynamic. Originally the movie was only going to be called "Rapunzel". Mirabel from Encanto was also successful, and even though she doesn't fall in love, it still about her relationship with her family. It just makes so much more sense to modernize a love story by showing what kind of love people should be looking for, not by removing love entirely.

Its the not so slow decay of the Disney prince, as well. My son only had inaninate objects like xars and toys who represented the male demographic while he was growing up. Otherwise, he was told anyone that looks like him is evil at heart. Even into Star Wars. And as a redhead? Always the villain.

Yet another intelligence essay. You must remember the actor playing snow white is 22 years old and has somebody once said "they just read somebody else's words". In this case they maybe proved right. She is going along with what she is being told to say. I wonder does Rachel Zegler have an original through in her head. Thank you, I did not think of that problem the way you did until now. I noticed princess movies were getting more feminist and deviate more from the source material but I didn't think they were getting that bad.

If what you say is true then this will really be one of the final nails in the coffin for Disney. I mean they've ruined Star Wars into apathy, they've oversaturated Marvel and parents are losing trust in Pixar movies now so they're running out of resources to abuse. If Disney loses their old guard Disney Princesses then they're screwed as far as movies go and may even stop new merchandise and park attractions from forming.

Disney has been in some tough spots before but they at least had some goodwill to fall back on. Times have sadly changed for the mouse.

How they all seem to forget that the stories they are mutilating are not even Disney's own ... Disney took existing fairytales and myths of different origins and changed them to make them more digestible to children and fit the society at the times... that worked because they still had some respect for the stories origins. Now there's noting of that, just take a name everyone knows and do what you want with it. Why don't they go on doing new stuff like frozenetc? (I never watched it but understood there they already changed classic themes?) It seems they just like to shit on anything good they made. Why can it not be good in that time and fine. For today we get new stuff to see, let historic pieces be what they where in their time. It's not ok to "rewrite" history. Just make your own and comment on historic pieces -> this way you see development not by rewriting other people's pieces from other times

I think Disney overestimates its own influence. Imagine you are a small girl that wants to be a leader and then you are watching one of these Disney classics. Suddenly you want to be a mother and housewife. Millions of women have ruined their live just because they have watched one Disney movie.
Disney seems to believe that women and men are completely equal and biological factors are absolutely irrelevant. The differences of men and women are society dependent. Disney and others believe that their movies will save the society from the patriachy or whatever.
I think Disney should learn that the world doesn't revolve around Disney.

It's too much trouble to make this character original and market it as a Disney original, that would be too risky. Better use a well-beloved and completely unrelated title to save time.and effort. But pump $50, 000, 000 into it anyway.
I swear they'll run out princess remakes one day and start remaking all the Mickey Mouse shorts as live-action and looking like detective Pikachu.
