Tutto bellissimo! Harnoncourt superlativo! Ma posso dire... da italiano mi sono rotto il di sentire "Vedete i garofàni" In tutte le produzioni "esterofile" (salvo pochissime eccezioni) sempre la stessa

Sounds great but loses something by being taken out of its historical context. Cant see why people feel the need to change one of the most complete in all respects operas of all time.

Nice sets, shame about the production. Above all Figaro is a comedy whose depth and emotional power are brought into relief by the brilliance of the farce. This production gets it all wrong - for the most part the tempi are far too slow and ponderous (exactly the opposite of what comedy needs) and then in those magical parts where the everything should decelerate to absorb the magnitude of the emotions involved, it unaccountably speeds up. Utterly humorless, takes itself far too seriously and injects elements of macabre and sinister sexuality which are completely inappropriate. What a waste.
And in the end it’s not remotely funny. Which for a comedy is traditionally considered something of a disadvantage.

I purchased this video several years ago, but only now I was watching it for the first time on my computer, and I had a very negative surprise. This was the absolute worst of the Le Nozze Di Figaro I’v ever seen. The modern context, the very sexual nature of the whole opera, the closeups where we could see all the sweat on the faces of the singers, that extra character running jumping etc, all of that is totally disgusting. The only positive thing I can mention is the quality of the singing, which was really high. In spite of that I decided to watch the opera entirely since my italian is not that good, so I had the English subtitles to fully understand all the words of the opera. I wanted my voice heard, so I logged in to youtube and found this interpretation of the opera, so I could make this comment. I wasted my money to purchase this video.
