🎵 Would you like a practice progression that covers both the major and minor ii-V-I? Well in today's lesson I cover one of my favourite practice progressions that covers just this. You'll probably recognise it as the 'Autumn Leaves' A section. It perfectly covers the harmony and progression you need to know, chiefly the major and minor ii-V-I. In the lesson I show you:

🔴 How this progression practices both the major and minor ii-V-I
⚫️ The relationship between the minor and major ii-V-I
🔴 Give you several ways to practice with different layers of musicality

Getting your ii-V-Is down is important work! Practice this progression in all keys and you'll be well on your way with your jazz harmony.

You have the ability to explain a concept that I find difficult to grasp, in a very straightforward simplified manner. Making it easier to grasp and retain. Much appreciated.

Excellent! I am suscribed to several jazz guitar channels, some good, some not so. This is now officially one of the good ones in my book.

Excellent thanks. In my topsy turvey way I found this lesson - and it so happens to fit very nicely with the "Making the Changes Series" which I am systematically working through... provides an essential framework (and over the same song) to bring harmony and the progression together. Magic thanks.

Another excellent and well-explained lesson. Thank goodness for you Andy, I had just about given up on this jazz thing but now it’s starting to make sense. Cheers.

Is it a common practice to drop the fifth of the chord when playing jazz progressions? PS. I just discovered your channel and can tell it is a place that I am going to be frequenting. Thanks for your generosity.

Very nice lesson, but I must finish Caravan from College campus first ( lol). We don’t hear too much of your Vintage 47, too bad !, ,

Great info. Thanks Andy. You're a bit quick in this vid which made it tough to follow in real time. I'll re-watch as many times as needed, no problem. It was a little difficult to absorb but it's great stuff. I'll just review til I get it. NP. Well done. BTW, why do you follow the CM7 with a IV, FM7? I see why the A7 leads into Dm7 (secondary dominant) but how does the FM7 lead to Bm7b5?

Are you moving from CM7 to FM7 just because it feels smooth to move up a 4th to FM7? Just a temporary sub dominant resting spot? Because it has no link to Bm7b5 at all, like the A7 to Dm7 move.

BTW. I'm 74 so I'm a bit slow on the uptick anyway. So don't take my review as a personal criticism.
