Marshalling #AI to monitor moths

Using #moths and #ArtificialIntelligence to monitor forest biodiversity - that's not science fiction but a new project by NTU's Assoc Prof Eleanor Slade and her team at the Asian School of the Environment. In partnership with the UK Centre for Ecology and Hydrology and the Alan Turing Institute, the #NTUsg researchers aim to study moths, which are crucial for pollination and are a source of food for animals like bats. Helping them are 10 AI-assisted remote monitoring systems that can take photos of moths and identify them in real-time with edge-processing, as well as capture sound clips of ambient and animal noise.
