Lilian definitely has more versatility thanks to the dry-phase-vibrato control and the width and feedback knobs. However, it sounds sterile in comparison with the smaller, cheaper, and more restrictive MXR. Just a reminder that quality beats quantity.

Phase 95 is the most underrated pedal ever.

You have to set the Lilian on Phase. You had it on vibe setting when you were complaining about the throbbing sound. It would have been a better comparison if you had kept it on phase setting.

I'm really glad you posted this so I could decided whether to buy it or not. Thank you!!

I have both so it's tricky. Lots of MXR pedals sound great even with a minimal control scheme, and the 95 is no exception. The Lillian is a more subtle phaser that I find works best after dirt, where the d-p-v and feedback controls become very interactive.

I had the Lillian for awhile, tried the Phase 95 and sold the Lillian. PS - Your reviews are awesome! Keep up the good work.

Nice shoot-out! All I need is the phase 95 if I use a phaser. Sometimes it's cool to play in phase 45 mode too!

As an owner of the phase 95, I've been looking into potential replacement, hence why I'm here now. But I think I just found out I think I'll use both. I just don't like how the 95 almost acts as a boost when paired with my stacked od's. There's just too much high frequency. But when paired with my chorus on a "clean" setting I love it. But I think I'll like subtlety of the Lillian with stacked OD's

The reason you can’t hear any phasing is because you cranked the knob all the way over to vibrato, which means…. no phasing. It’s a direct vs phase knob until noon, then a phase vs vibrato knob after. So you’ve got the vibrato effect turned all the way on, with no phase engaged. Edit: whoops, looks like I was beat by a good bit, others mentioned the same)

Lillian is very similar like a vibe.
The high frequencies of MXR is too noise for me.

The Lillian is so much better if you just spend some time with it. It’s so much more versatile

I love my Maxon PT999. Only one knob and voiced very well.

Interesting, thank you! Both sound really good.

I am still convinced my Crazy Tube Circuits Cyclone pedal ist the perfect phaser to me.

Great guitar sounds with or without the pedals. Nicely done.

Thank you - big difference in sound huge difference in price. {The best part of Lillian are the graphics which won't help you} still a 1979 ROSS sounds better than both of them..

I currently use (rarely) the Behringer VP1 Vintage Phaser, which is a clone of EHX Small Stone. I used to have a vintage 70s Phase 90 but it got stolen before I could try it.

I think Lillian is far better, seems like it's "talking" to you.

What is the song you play in this as the demo? Sounds like the one in the chorus pedal vid and i love it

Have to agree that phase95 beats the Lilian, interestingly I heard the Lilian demo by another YouTuber and he was playing a pearl jam song, and while the Lilian impressed me with how close it sounded to the original song, it just couldn’t quite get there in the highs and lows and left me wanting just a bit more, but your comparison has backed that up quite convincingly and shown a better option (to our ears anyway)
