On a bright and sunny day in Jaco Pastorius park, the diversity, culture and love of Broward County's residents was on full display. All were assembled to celebrate unity at the 3rd annual Uniting Broward Event presented by Sheriff Scott Israel and Broward County Sheriff's Office. Form free water slides to face painting, snow cones live horses, entertainment and tours of the entire BSO fleet including humvees helicopters and SWAT vehicles.
Happy faces filled the park as they enjoyed the various food carts and vendors as well as the live entertainment form multiple dance groups each representing their culture through dance. The highlight of the day occurred when Sheriff Scott Israel took to the stage to deliver a riveting speech which included his initiative to begin "measuring our success not by the number of children we put in jail, but the number of children we keep OUT of jail."
