Alcatraz is a legendary prison located on an island in San Francisco Bay. It was in operation from 1934 to 1963 and was considered one of the most secure and inaccessible prisons in the United States. High walls, harsh conditions and a natural water barrier made escape from there almost impossible. Nevertheless, in June 1962, three inmates - Frank Morris, John Anglin and Clarence Anglin - managed to pull off one of the most daring and mysterious escapes in history. Their carefully planned plan and the unknown fate after the escape still arouse interest and fascination today and make this story one of the most fascinating criminal cases of the twentieth century.
There are people who make the impossible possible: People who manage to escape from merciless worlds that are said to be places of no return. The spectacular Alcatraz escape of 1962 is still one of the greatest mysteries in criminal history. Official sources claim that the three inmates did manage to disappear from the prison island - but that they drowned in the sea during their escape attempt. But how can the numerous sightings of the prison escapees, which have always been the focus of heated debate, be explained? Who were the men who led all the guards around by the nose and made a mockery of the supposedly safest prison in the world? And above all, could they not have survived their daring escape through the icy water and started a new life somewhere?
