Wait wait wait, you guys don't know Opel?!?!?!?
It was owned by GM back then, in fact a few Chevrolet and Saturn cars were rebadged Opels, they were also sold as Vauxhall in UK and as Holden in Australia.
It was actually a huge huge brand back then...

they were vauxhall vx220 in the uk. they were basically a lotus with a vauxhall badge. these weren't a bad car as they weighed very little and had the handling of a lotus

These 2 and a half minute intros are too much.

Too bad about the opel, I was genuinely shocked at the performance of that car on the video game gt5, lap times like you wouldn't believe.

Maybe the Speediest has for the intro of MSR game? I understand that the racing Pedigree of Opel isnt there but its a nice car. Shame that the aftermarket support for the model hasnt good

Paul was a cool guy in person. I knew him 15 years. Worked with him in VARSITY BLUES. Also worked with jordana in THE FACULTY, michelle in MACHETE, and various other projects, and sung in WE CAN BE HEROES.
On set of VARSITY BLUES, paul and i chatted bout jdm cars alot. 2 years before fast and furious 1st film. My dad owned a hako when i was a kid in Japan.

Thanks for the video. Looks like you're still got a lot to tell us about the making of these movies

it's cool that you had so much access to video tape the cars and actually see the sets the way you did. That "Racer's Edge" shop was so dope. Back then, I had a similar shop where I picked up my parts. Another legit video bro..Keep em comin!

Opel Speedster / Vauxhall VX220….built on the bones of the Lotus Elise. If I’m not wrong, the Opel GT that succeeded it was also a Saturn in the US

Opel was Part of GM for a long time and is well known here in Europa and especially in Germany. Some of their cars were sold as Vauxhall, Holden, Saturn or Chevrolet in other countires. The Speedster was based of the Lotus Elise, but Opel otherwise Opel mostly builds compact cars.

I actually like the Opel Speedster/Vauxhall VX220. Those blue MR-S cars would've been a nice addition to the film as well. Too bad they were scrapped.

That website is not worth it at all, the parts are low quality and after its complete it’s too expensive

Great stuff Craig thank you very much !

I just literally bought Fast and furious 1 and 2 - call me late to the party I know !

Watching the "making of" guess who I see but you 20 years ago I'm like hey that's Craig that I subscribed to you on YouTube !

What's funny is I used to have a drift 510 Datsun 510 like my low-budget replica of Pete Brock's BRE famed Trans Am winner circa 1972 - so it's time I get familiar with modern drift car doctrine.

I often say boy I wish I could turn back the clock 40 years and get my Datsun 510s back lol.

Bet you have a few that "got away" too....

Another great and informative video Craig, thank you for it. Love the pics of Leon's R33; and interesting info on the convertible cars. Curious, in the picture where all the movie cars are in the lot next to the Fedex trucks, where did that location used to be? Probably something else there these days?

2:30 minutes intro and advertisement? Are you serious? In a barely 9 minute video?

The video though was informative, as ever, but the ad was way off
