Quick correction the duplicate has to be the higher rarity in order to get the rarity bump.

This appears to be a feature that they have disabled. It might have worked when this video was made, but as of Jan 2023, this no longer works. There is currently NO way to increase the Rarity of any given Hero. Sucks, but even checked in the FAQs in the game. I tested it out with some lower star heroes as well.

So per your correction, this doesn't work with any "food" being higher tier correct? it has to be one of the same hero you're ascending? because I have a Mythic warrior to use for food, but it doesn't give me a quality upgrade, she's just food.

So with marriage it doesn't seem like your actually upgrading the rarity nor able to change the gender.. the first selection is what you will always get with an adjustment to the traits.. a bit of a let down

I was hoping for a more straight-forward method... I have a 9* epic, which I want to upgrade to legendary, but that means I'd need to upgrade it to 10* and this will require a lot of resources :P

Makes no sense to do this. Most people level a champion past 4 starts so you can’t upgrade it. If you only have 4* mythic why would you care about better lower traits on a common for example if you’ll need to upgrade them anyways? If they allowed same character with more than 4* to merge to mythic I could get it.

I just started playing this game, why would you want to do this if you already have a higher rarity duplicate? Wouldn't the higher rarity automatically be better?

Trying to tie it all together: Is marriage to higher rarity characters the only way to increase trait level? That's a big dice roll to get the right trait replaced with a high level one.

Then merging with higher rarity characters on the altar is the only way to increase base rarity.

Which begs the question of why would you ever want to level low level characters into high ones, when you can just draw high ones on occasion?

I can't see why you would do this, if you already have the higher rarity card, why use it to push a lower card to a higher rarity. Don't use just want the higher stars?
This would be great if it was the other card used but as you corrected, this is not the case
