A siphon is 10 times easier than this and everyone has a garden hose. A shop vac works but most people dont have one and it needs a hose long enough to reach the bottom while the vacuum is outside the pool (unless you want to lift 10 gallons+ of water at once).

I used my carpet cleaner to get the puddles after the kids scooped most of it out with buckets. Water was clean so they had a fun day and we got the pool emptied

wet and dry vacuum cleaner take out the filter and it sucks everything up, just have to tip out the water every minute
