Looks good, but if I can offer a suggestion try to keep fingers clear of the blade by holding the depth of cut adjustment knob.

I've used the same planner for years. Like most of my dewalt stuff, it's tough as nails, easy to use, and great ergonomically! Sadly though the dust extraction is abdoloutly Crap! On 1.5 mm or above it clogs within a few seconds and starts chattering. It's OK with the extractor hose connected. But without the hose it's rubbish!

Takes a lot of learning to not snipe the wood at the ends but once you get it down that planer is beast

The 20 volt MAX model DCP580B comes with an edge guide, that would definitely have helped here to keep the edge planed perpendicular to the face of the door, instead of using your fingers! I would even add another vertical plate securely attached to that edge guide that allowed it to bear on a bigger surface of the face of the door, as long as that plate is perpendicular to the sole plate of the tool.

Have a cordless one and got the bag attachment for it, game changer. Nearly no clean up

Dewalt sells an optional dust bag to keep that mess to a minimum.

How are you not dulling the blades when cutting so close to the metal?

Can I use that for door jambs I have a storm door that hits 35inches and a steel door to replace with that measures to 35 1/8 so I just need to shave down the 1/8 inch part for it to fit perfect….. would this planer work on that idea
