FAQ - Why don't you have uniforms in school?

Instead of looking at how things work in other schools, our inspiration has always been how things work in the real world. And once you start thinking with that perspective - it becomes quite a straightforward decision to not have uniforms.

Even i was of that impression that uniforms bring about a sense of discipline in kids, also they don't waste time thinking what to wear every morning or comparing (lol), but this makes sense too. I mean kids are going to compare irrespective of school/no at a very early age they might learn to be more content this way, self confident and focus on channelising their energy into doing more productive things.

My college still have strict rules for the way students have their hair, makeup and clothing, and to be honest most of jobs in my country still have rules against even long haircuts in men.

It just feels a lot less of a friendly environment if your forced to wear something you dont want to

Except that the kids don't have any control over the decisions that their parents make in purchasing their clothing. Adults do have that control. That is a huge difference.

Well, me. We can have any haircut and wear any oufit we have.

No need for a uniform in school. I want to look cool.

Your argument against uniforms makes sense, but only by omitting what is in my opinion a key detail: in the real world, adults have to manage their finances alongside worrying about their appearance, which gives them a small amount of what I would call "control on greed". However, students, who are very impressionable, also want things that other people have(as you mentioned). The difference is that a kid has no idea how much control has to be used over finances. For example, let's say in this "no uniform school", a student from a very rich family buys a 30000$ coat. Now a regular student also wants that same coat. I would pay a decent sum of money to see a parent successfully not buy the coat and not hurt the kid's feelings.

This is the primary idea behind uniforms: as long as monetary inequalities persist, it will be near impossible to put such measures in place.

My school's uniform is flexible - you probably won't see 2 people wearing the exact same clothes.
