You forgot the last part of the cutscene, where she instantly disintegrates you and you respawn in the debate parlor.

I love how Rennala youthful appearance and blue eyes made her look like a innocent looking overgrown child in a robe that is too large for here, yet in the second phase Rennala's appearance become that of a powerful regal queen with a steely, piercing gaze just by changing her expression and posture.

It's like the game trying to reminds you that the defenseless weird woman you just beat was the same sorceress queen who led an army of magic knights that fought army that defeated fire giants and ancient dragons to a stalemate.

I like that it seems this wasn't Ranni actually being there, but more like you setting off a security system.

Ranni: "send word far and wide. Of the last Queen of Caria, Rennalla of the Full Moon. And the majesty of the night she conjureth."
aka: "tell everyone that my mom is a BADASS!"

In the pair of cutscenes for this boss fight, there are several shots that emphasize a characters eyes. The Juvenile Scholars have sectoral heterochromia which emphasizes their otherworldly and synthetic nature. Rennala has gold eyes in her introductory cutscene representing how the Erdtree's lineage, specifically Radagon, had bewitched her and essentially diminished her inherent ability. In the transitional cutscene, Rennala's eyes are a deep blue representing her Carian heritage and full magical ability. Melina has one gold eye and one blue eye.

0:57 - "Send word far and wide!" Chilling! Ranni's says those words in a manner to make them as sharp as a razor and as austere as an iron beam, emphasizing the sheer deference and respect that Rennala once commanded.

That image Rennala holding out that staff infront of the full moon is just beautiful.

When I saw her open her eyes in the transitional cutscene the first time I got chills.

I never noticed before until today but at 0:57, you can actually see your character backing up cautiously as Ranni's full-powered version of Rennala walks menacingly towards you

This was my first "oh shit" moment. Well to be honest Godrick was...but this was the first in terms of awe.

God damn man I've always loved the cutscenes in the soulsborne series but Elden Ring is just so damn epic with almost every single one, it's so enjoyable having a huge portion of the main bosses actually speak. From Godrick to Rennala/Ranni to Morgott, all fantastic voice lines that just give you chills.

I find first phase of this boss strange, obscure but beautiful. Lots of kids crawling, singing, trying to stop us by biting, rebirthing while their mom holds an egg and floating. Also music hits different. Thats some Evangelion shit here.

I always liked this one even in this fucked up word Ranni protects her mom.

This isn't the best boss fight in the game, hell it's not a good boss fight by any stretch of the imagination, but this cutscene never fails to give me goosebumps. You set off a security system designed not to just protect Rennala but to show off who exactly do you think you're messing with here, buddy. This is Rennala of the Full Moon, Last Queen of Caria, Head of the Academy of Raya Lucaria, mother to Empyreans, former wife of Radagon, she who fought the armies of the Golden Order to a stalemate. You think you can just walk in here and smack her around, well foul Tarnished, as Margit might say, lay these foolish ambitions to rest. Here is my mother in all her glory - think you can take her? And Ranni says it in such a grandiose way that I'm actually ashamed of what I typed. This is genius, man.
