Can Celine still sting? Will one of the greatest singers of our time lip sync from now on? In this video, I (a contemporary voice specialist) analyse Celine Dion's journey from pre to post diagnosis of Stiff Person's Syndrome. I offer some explantations as to how this neurological condition may have impacted her world famous vocal technique and the effects of the way she is choosing to mitigate it.

If we are meeting for the first time, HELLO GORGEOUS! I'm Lolli, a voice teacher and vocal anatomy nerd specialising in contemporary techniques. I have a degree in vocal performance, and I am studying for a masters degree in voice pedagogy. I sing aaaall the time! Pop, jazz, rock, metal, soul, Hindustani, Carnatic and I am constantly learning and practising new vocal skills. I just bloody love singing. It's my favourite thing in the whole world, and because I love you, I want you to sing too.

I believe everyone can sing, and my mission with this channel is to break down techniques that are so often portrayed as something to be exclusively accessed by people with a special talent. Well. Special talents can be learnt, and I am here to teach them to you.

✨✨✨✨✨✨✨✨

Oh I absolutely love this. Once upon a time I was a classically trained singer-never by profession-but singing was my therapy. I was diagnosed with fibromyalgia in 2006 and have since had many diagnoses added to that and survived stage 4 cancer as well. I hadn’t sung in several years when I discovered your channel. I have been playing around with some of the techniques you discuss in your videos and I have discovered my voice again. It is different, but there. I sing every day now even if just a little. I do hope that Ms. Dion can reinvent herself. I would still line up to see her. Thank you for being so encouraging Lolli. I hope Celine sees this somehow and goes on. She is absolutely fabulous and you are as well.❤️

You just made a 32 year old Canadian man cry on his couch. Your videos make me feel powerful after a lifetime of being knocked down. Literally miles better than any therapist I’ve ever had.

Don’t really know what to say. Your videos absolutely make a difference in my life. Thank you so much.

Such a kind, compassionate look at Celine. May we all be so compassionate and kind to the people around us.

I wonder if Celine will somehow come upon this video. It would both show her how someone else in the business feels about her capabilities, but also how we (the public) don’t expect the very same thing she used to possess. Great video, very filled with The Fairy Voice Mother’s love.

This is the most heart-centered, empathetic, soul-shining, understanding, wise and wonderful analysis. I loved every minute of it. I learned a ton, as I always do from your videos, and cried multiple times, as I often also do from your videos for all the best, most therapeutic reasons. Lest you ever forget, you are also not an apple tree but the Sherwood Forest Oak, and the enormous body of amazing reactionalyses that you've already produced is a gift that keeps on giving. You truly are a Fairy Voice Mother, not only helping with our voices, but also helping us see our intrinsic worth. I really hope Celine gets to watch this video someday.

Another Canadian who loves Celine! So sorry for her health issues, but she still sounds great! Thank you for showing us and explaining her illness from your perspective. We love your channel and you!

As I click the thumbs up, tears fall on the keyboard. I found this channel several months back. The very first video I watched, tears. You are doing something way down in the soul, that place where hope is given birth. You do it with such innocence and grace, do you know you’re doing it? You are much more then an artist, are you aware of the energy you bring. Lolli Wren, thank you for being you.

Watching a 30 minute analysis on Celine Dion wasn't on my bingo card but thank you - I found it really insightful and inspiring. It's clear that singing in her signature style has become her whole identity but as we know, Johnny Cash proved that emotion was more important than technical delivery.

You have a stunning ability to see the very best of whatever is in front of you. You’re almost otherworldly.
Thank you from a big Celine fan.

As a disabled person, I love this vote of confidence. We may not be the same as we once were, but we still have impact. Something to give.

Nice to hear back from you Lolli...

I think your Reactions are very unique and I don't believe many people understand how skilled and wonderfully trained YOU are. I'm your newest and perhaps biggest new Patreon fan! I have listened to hundreds of "REACTION" videos, and yours caught me. Not just the hilarious antics, funny quips, self deprecating humor, and vocal Anatomy Class (I love ALL that), its that behind all that you give us tiny clues in your REACTIONS just how vocally talented and trained YOU are. I am a huge Lara Fabian fan and am fortunate to have seen Celine live in Vegas, You are the only Vocal Coach (I prefer Artist) that can truly explain and, more importantly, DEMONSTRATE (my FIRST reaction to your "Caruso" reaction was "Holy shi..., SHE can sing, and I wasn't talking about LF) what it is about a specific song or singer that makes us all so captivated.

I LOVED your Celine video and it just highlights YOUR talent. I can't tell you why I like one wine over another. I don't swirl it, I can't smell it and tell you what region of Italy or France or California it came from, I don't hold it up to the light nor watch it fall down the side of the glass. I just taste it and I know that I love it. With singers its different, I picked you over other Content providers because I see you can help us all understand WHY, when we've just loved a singer who tells a story every time they sing, who connects with a song and the audience for decades, who captivates us, gives us brief out of body experience, its time for THEM and US to just let go. This is even worse in most Professional sports because the average "sports life span" of a Professional athlete is less than 10 years. There are so many examples of this, and I would rather see them retire and move on to the next thing that they would inevitably be great at, inspiring new artists, commentating or becoming legendary sports analyst on a major network, contributing to global talent shows, etc. I want to just remember their greatness and legacy. Seeing this is heartbreaking.

Your Newest Fan,
KevinC

I hope that you’ve seen the moment at the premiere of the documentary where Celine describes the “apples” part of the documentary was shown as a clip on instagram and updates the audience that a fan commented “We’re not here for the apples, we’re here for the tree”

Absorbing video & so true where you cite Joni accepting her aging, changing voice as a part of her own aging and changing, and embracing it. Without a doubt Lolli you're the best vocal analyst out there. You make it look so simple. But that's so hard. Massive kudos.

Never have been a fan of Celine’s stage persona but no one can doubt her incredible voice. I wish her nothing but happiness and acceptance for her journey into a new voice reality. Even at 70% of her original ability she’s better than most professional singers.

That was at once informative yet kind and respectful.

I know I’m very late in seeing this video but your ability to make the nuances of anatomy and technique easily digestible to people who don’t sing is second to none. As if that wasn’t enough you then go on to demonstrate the technique perfectly. I’m also late to your music but I absolutely love it!!

I had no idea about Celine Dion's voice troubles - but this breakdown and discussion about it is freaking BEAUTIFUL. You're such a lovely person, Lolli - thank you 😊 And I sincerely hope that Celine gets to see this as well, and read all the comments.
