Why isn't the Universe Symmetrical?

A lot of things are symmetrical – cats, dogs (bilateral symmetry), planets, stars (spherical symmetry), galaxies, pies (radial symmetry) and a lot more, except for the Universe. If you look really hard left and right, you will see agglomerations of galaxies and nebulas with varying sizes, and huge voids in between. So, what is causing this asymmetry?

The Matter/Antimatter problem was always weird to me. But that's because I assume that all the matter and anti-matter DID annihilate each other, cause the universe to become extremely hot, and then had all the energy "cool" into matter.
