For that scene where the Spinosaurus just appears without a noise, I like to think that the Spinosaurus was sleeping in that spot and was simply awoken when the phone started ringing only to discover that the guys were literally right infront of him.

FINALLY! A Person Who Gives Jurassic Park 3 the respect it deserves!
You said everything I was hoping you would.

Finally, someone NOT bashing Jurassic Park 3 for a change. You have no idea what a big relief this is to me. I was seriously getting tired of people doing it. JP3 isn't perfect - but I fucking love it.

While I can't say I'm fond of this film (never did hate it though), I will agree that it is a really amazing looking film and some of the horror elements I really loved. Especially how it blended practical effects and CGI very well.

My problem with the "Alan!" scene is that the raptor Grant sees in the dream is one of the new quilled ones that he's never seen before, which doesn't make sense.

This film is an amazing showing of how much we'll miss Stan Winston. The Spinosaurus and velociraptors in this film had a lot of very careful design and craft and it really shows - they may not behave like animals in the story but they sure look like real animals.

Compare that to Jurassic World or Fallen Kingdom and the dinosaurs look like monsters with bland colours, unclever CGI, and little animatronic. Indominus - White, big mouth. Apatosaurus - dull looking. Velociraptor - CGI monster again. Spinosaurus looks like a genuinely scary crocodilian animal. The velociraptors in this have beautiful colours and expressions/acting thanks to the mix between CG and clever puppetry.

Honestly, Stan Winston was a huge drive behind this and it's something I really miss in the new films

I love this one so much, my favorite of the series. The final fight with the Spinosaurus and that damn phone ringing in addition to them almost drowning gave me so much anxiety

The Raptor on the plane with Alan could be a reference to the re-awakenings and outrageous dream sequences that Sam Neill starred in in "In The Mouth Of Madness"

Funnily enough, the original Jurassic Park and Lost World books were quite realistic and basically research papers with a story.

Oh, and Sarah Harding punches a raptor in the face while riding a motorcycle in the Lost World.

I thought the Lost World was great. I really don't see how one little scene ruins the whole movie for people.

The people complaining that the Spinosaurus sneaking up to the characters to be stupid are forgetting that in the climax of JP1, the T-rex did the EXACT same thing with the only difference is that it was in an enclosed building. 😑

Jurassic 3 could've used better writing, but the effects and horror elements make it an awesome watch for me. The writing doesn't even matter that much, it just makes it feel like a hokey 60's monster movie but with way better effects and action, which was pretty damn intense. This is the only JP film that can unnerve me.
JW was another movie that felt like a 60's dinosaur movie, albeit with better writing, but I feel like it's more predictable and the effects are less believable.

Once again, you put together a very thorough review.  I always thought that Jurassic Park 3 was a lot of fun (much more than Lost World) and I still can't understand why it is disliked by many fans.  It was great to have Sam Neill back, the Spinosaurus was a scary new villain and some light humor made the whole film fun.

I literally just got done doing a Jurassic Park movie marathon & just got done watching the 3rd film as a result. How fortuitous.

I thought the movie wasn't that bad as well, but some parts are just incredibly stupid. For example the scene where the spinnosaurus breaks through the METAL STEEL gate but then can't break a WOODEN door. Not to mention the annoyance of the two parents, especially the mother.

They clearly worked so hard on this. I wish they’d had an equally stellar script. But as it stands, the lackluster writing overshadowed everything else. What a shame.

Jp3 still has the best cgi in the entire series. Even better than the jurassic world series because of its practical effects

It's very obvious that the script was rushed.

Well, I disagree. JPIII is the disaster, not really The Lost World. The Lost World and Jurassic World are good movies. JPIII is not, for a lot of reasons. I enjoyed it as a kid, but as an adult, I see it has TONS of problems. But is my opinion. You don't have to agree with me.

I didn't hate it because I'm not a salty T-rex fanboy.
