Halo On The Game Boy Is Not What I Expected

Halo Combat Evolved has made the jump to the Game Boy Color with an ongoing recreation that I think is awesome and well worth checking out.

Halo for GBC is absolutely insane. And playable on real hardware, so it automatically curbstomps the Megaman 7 8bit demake and the Megaman X8 16bit demake (which can't be played on real hardware due to the techniques used to program those...).

Next thing y'know, some mad lad or lass will crank out demakes of Metroid Prime 1-3 (AND make'em playable on real hardware), or a demake of Final Fantasy X2 (this is one I'd actually prefer to see in 16bit).

I wish this was made for Gameboy advanced instead, they could have had more creative expression, since it was 32 bit instead of 8 bit.

It feels like the assault rifle needs something more to set it apart from the pistol to not feel completely obsolete. The pistol having its headshot chance as its thing, maybe the assault rifle could have a small amount of auto aim, like maybe 20 degrees in the direction you are facing. Still killing slower than the pistol but not requiring you to line up perfectly.

I used the pistol a lot on the first Halo. It didn't have a scope, but was decently powerful in that game

This is so cool! I wanted to get into game development for demakes or just simpler Gameboy games as a hobby when I was in college. I haven’t had time to really pursue this at all yet but hopefully one day. (I work as an electrical engineer now)
