As one of the five naval players I can just say it's less of Gaijin's fault and more about community that ruined naval matchmaking. The biggest problem is that the things most people talk about naval were fixed, like damage model issues, immense premium player bot spam to name a few.
It's just the fact that most players, especially ground players just bash people for trying out naval is not even funny at this point. You get longer queues because you made those queues long for ridiculing the mode for new players.
I do think this is also due to expectations. Naval in itself is a longer and calmer game mode, there's no high peak of action and then release like in air. Instead, you get longer artillery duels, testing skills of both or more players involved. Most players expect it to be like ground so to speak, which is simply impossible.
The biggest problem currently are the maps and slight balance issues, but with new air BR decompression, we might see a solution to the balance.

some days ago i had a brillant idea for Tutorials on War Thunder, would bassically be Gran Turismo License tests, teaching you first basic flying, energy stuff, then advanced dogfight techniques, later jet stuff, later radar and missile stuff, could be tied to Tier unlocking

The CAS and matchmaking are definitely the top problems. Bad enough to constantly get on losing teams, but, to have CAS wipe out a respawning team at once is terrible. Often, it is not cost effective (repair costs) to respawn. Why bother ? To get slaughtered?

on the CAS issue:
increase spawn cost: it would make things even worse since only the good players would have acces to CAS (since it is already a mirace that an average CAS enjoyer can get into a plane knowing how utterly bad they play), so the quantity would drop, but the quality would massively increase

limiting spawns: this would do the exact same as bellow, just a bit differently.

encouraging SPAA use: SPAAs are useless since they get outranged at every BR, can easily be overwhelmed, have limited amount of ammo (while planes can fully repair and restock safely)

even all these implemented would do nothing. NONE of these would fix the core issue: CAS requires ZERO skill, and this is something you can not balance.
CAS is in the game for the same reason as other dumb mechanics in other games, such as arty in WoT/AW, aircraft carriers in WoWs, or mortars in Battlefield 1. to keep the utter trash players in the game by giving them a cheap, easy, zero skill tool instead of teaching them how to play.

the only fix is adding an actual ground mode.

I play so much navy enemy players shoots far range 12km and shoots randomly over cover/walls

the grind is so annoying. i got a nuke earlier today in my 6.7 Sweden lineup. 9 kills, some assists, base captures, etc. dropped the nuke, saved the game from being lost. my reward?

17k XP with premium account and vehicles....lol what

I think this is the video I wanted to comment on about SPAA in the U.S. tech tree top level. Japan has the type 93, why doesn't the U.S. tech tree have the Avenger missile system. Other then adding the 50 cal to the type 93 model and changing the skin to the Avenger skin they should be able to make it fairly easy. Some one was saying all the U.S. has that would be equal to the Russian pantsir is the patriot system, but I believe bringing the Avenger into game would be at least as useful as the strela.

900 hours in 4 years? You haven’t been playing for 4 years then have you. You started 4 years ago and played on and off. Your general footage is trash. Clear skill issue.

Wdym some planes feel tanky? Have you actually unlocked anything that uses 50.cal or cannons? (ME262 squad vehicle doesn’t count) The Russian Shavaks one shot pretty much every plane and can even mess up bombers quickly. You’re playing arcade too, it’s embarrassing.

Current ground matchmaking feels pretty good. They’ve improved the gap between WW2 and Post war HEAT slingers. 10.3 feels really nice as both up tiers and down tiers feel fair. They’ll never do real historical gameplay because how do you balance something like the Mig 21? Or post war tanks that never saw the Cold War?

War thunders problem is the player base almost through and through games got core issues for sure but its the half of players who have no clue how to play the game somehow at level 100 with a negative af kd and can only get kills in aircraft thats the biggest issue or half your team leaving after one death. you are simply touching on mostly glitches which idk if anyones played any modern title you pay $60 or $70 usd on but its not finished and far more buggy whole reason i came back to war thunder.

overpressure is fine if you know how to use it and how to avoid it. some better explanations for new players would be nice tho.

ranking system: taking time periods into account would be horrible.
do you need a few examples? okay
the reserve tier french H-39 would see T-55s
Panzer IVs and Jgpz IVs would see T-62s
IS-7, IS-3, IS-4 would see Panzer IVs, Shermans, Pershings, etc
T-34-85 and SU-100 would see modern tanks from the 2020s
Some M3 Stuarts with 90mm HEAT guns would also see 2020s tanks.
Concept 3 (at the moment at 4.7 or 4.3) would see Abrams and Leo 2...
and the list goes on.

Expected interesting realistic solutions, got yapping and half baked suggestions that are either not realistically feaseable or require a titan's effort
Also ignored the sides of of anybody other than yourself, perfect exemple is ""airfield camping" requiring stronger anti air???
Also having no clue as to what would affect what, say adding more complexe models which in reality would only increase server load/ghost shelling and actually strenghten the models, peak exemple being what the recently did with tank models, the level of fine tunning required is also inhumane

i dont think listening to community is a good idea, most of the community (at least on forum) just crying nato mains demanding huge nerf on russia and buff on their country because of nato propaganda (some still belive abrams is some invincible wonderweapon), also some countries like sweden is just wayy too powerful, all of their vehicles

what would really help players is better rewards, better daily login rewards, some additional bonuses for the 1st battle of the day, small ammount of GE (like 100) for every sunday login, 1day premium for every 2nd week etc.

I think the two biggest things they could do to improve the experience for both new and old players is make the grind better and add some sort of sbmm system. I have seen several people get on the game enjoy it then realize how bad the grind is and immediately stop while i understand that they do this in the hopes people will spend money to make the grind better but i think they would make more money by having more people and a better grind. Also for the sbmm it would prevent players with 1000+ hours going into 1.0 and being able to get 10+ kills a game like i do and im not even particularly good. This would also stop getting stuck with a team if brand new people who just bought a premium in high teir overall it would be better for everyone

Considering you have played Roblox before I think you may of heard of CTS or Cursed Tank Simulator i wish war thunder was like them since they actually listen to their community and work with community to solve problems or even balance and fix the prices of things
