This review of the Nikon 35mm F/1.8 S lens for the Z mount system looks at whether this should be an essential for any Z mount shooter?

I use mine with the Nikon Z6, Z6II and Z50, it's great in both video and stills and this video contains lots of sample images - it's best watched in 4K to get the right image quality.

I was deciding between this and the 24mm f1.8 S, but went with the 24mm in the end. Both excellent performers, but I already have the 50mm f1.8 S (and the f1.2 S) and felt the 35mm was a bit too close in field of view.

I may pick one up eventually once they go on promotion again.

Thanks for the great review! I was just looking for reviews of the 35mm S when you posted this! I love my 85mm f1.8 S and I currently have the 35mm f1.8 G lens for my Z6. Do you think it would be worth the cost to upgrade to the 35mm S lens?

I never enjoyed the 35mm, I prefer the 58mm on my fx sensor, or the 28mm.

The 35 f1.8 is a great S lens but Chris it is way more expensive than the 50 .. and not as good optically than your 50mm s

I know this is an older video. Just wanted to say that it's still around $700 WHEN ON SALE and that is STILL too much considering that unlike the 20mm and 50mm in the same line of Z primes, is suffers from inexplicably LESS sharpness. And when I say that, I mean, it IS a great lens, and a good performer, but it would be a good performer priced at $500, and probably shouldn't be in the S line for the performance in comparison to other primes in this line. I don't HAVE one, so please be aware that I am depending on OTHER independant reviews when I say it's great, but not all that. If I am going to spend this kind of money for a close to standard perspective prime lense, it better be at least faster than 1.8. Frankly I can't understand why the expense. This SHOULD be one of the most popular, anc the EASIEST from an engineering standpoint to make. It should be close to perfect at this price range, and it's just ok. Databyter
